Character Interview: Constantine and Dulcie from The Bad Ones by Stylo Fantôme

Helloo again, everyone!!!

I’m catching up on my blog posts and decided to post somenting else today, so here is a fun post!!!

So here is the interview I did with the main characters of Stylo Fantôme’s last book, The Bad Ones.

If you haven’t read it before HERE is my review of the book.

That being said, let’s welcome Con and Dulcie!! Just so you know this interview were made around my Birthday in April. I know, I know, but better late than never, right?! LOL

Beauty and the Beastly Books: Hi Con, hi Dulcie! Thanks for coming and welcome!!! I’m still a bit hungover from my birthday party so please don’t, you know, kill me or anything. LOL

(*tries not to look too much at Con so Dulcie won’t stab her)

Beauty and the Beastly Books: So I have to tell you, I really relate to the fact you both give no fucks about society and live the way you want. If someone wanted to be free like that what would be the first step, minus all the killing, of course?

Constantine: For me, it’s about recognizing that everyone is beneath me. Caring what people think about me is like caring what an ant or a slug thinks about me. Why should I care, when I can squash them so easily?

Dulcie: For me, it’s realizing that other people simply don’t matter. Their thoughts, opinions, cares, worries. Why should I care about any of that? I’m not them, they’re not me, I don’t have to deal with them if I don’t want to, so why should I let anything they do or think or say bother me?

Beauty and the Beastly Books: Con, what’s your favorite thing about Dulcie? And Dulcie, what is yours about Constantine?

Constantine: I love that she’s fiercely independent. Dulcie would do just fine without me, I have no doubts about that. She’s a survivor. She can take anything life throws at her and roll with it.

Dulcie: He makes things happen. Like he said, I’m content to roll with things, but sometimes, action is needed. Whereas I’m more prone to avoid things, Con has no problem barreling into a situation and solving it however he thinks it needs to be solved. He’s truly fearless, which means I never have to be afraid, either.

Beauty and the Beastly Books: And how about the least favorite? What would you say it’s each other’s biggest flaw?

Constantine: She’s in her head too much! She’s paranoid, it’s crazy. Well, craziER, hahahaha. She doubts everything, has to overthink everything, is constantly questioning everything. She’s not able to take anything as it comes to her, not even love or affection.

Dulcie: Grow up with the people I did, and you’d understand why I’m that way, Daddy’s Boy. Least favorite thing about Constantine – he’s a know-it-all, and it’s particularly annoying because he’s almost always right, and he loves to prove himself right and then smile that stupid smile that just lets you know that he knows that he’s always right. Drives me insane.

(You mean, THAT smile, right?! *points at Con*)

Constantine: you mean MORE insane.

Dulcie: See? This is what I’m talking about. Shut up, Con.

Beauty and the Beastly Books:If you could change anything about the way you both treated each other until now what would it be?

Constantine: I wouldn’t change a thing. I think I handled it perfectly.

(*gulps* Sure, Con…)

Dulcie: *this is exactly what I was talking about above* I think … I would’ve opened up to him more. Been more honest with my feelings earlier on, maybe he wouldn’t have gone away for so long. Or if he had, maybe he would’ve at least felt guilty about it.

Constantine: HA HA HA HA, me feeling guilty. That’s hilarious.

Beauty and the Beastly Books: If you ever had kids, what would you name them? Wouldn’t Jameson be a good name for a boy? LOL

Constantine: Jameson is an excellent name! But I don’t exactly see children in our future.

(*thinks to herself* I definitely know a Jameson that, in another time, could have been Con’s son. Why are you looking at me, did I not think that to myself after all?)

Dulcie: I would rather be locked in a room with Frannie for a month than even entertain the idea of possibly having children. Just thinking about it made me throw up in my mouth.

(I have to say, I don’t see it either. The Universe wouldn’t be that cruel to you guys. Or to the poor child!)

Beauty and the Beastly Books: Dulcie, if you weren’t an artist, what would you like to be?

Dulcie: I can’t imagine myself doing anything else. It’s like … me. It’s an extension of myself, it’s just what I have to do. I only need three things in life, my art, my music, and Constantine.

Beauty and the Beastly Books: Con, what’s your biggest fear?

Constantine: Something happening to Dulcie and not being there to protect her.

*swoons BIGTIME*

Beauty and the Beastly Books: I’m sorry if this one is too intimate, but do you guys ever used those Halloween costumes for other, hm,,things? LOL

Constantine: No, but now that you’ve mentioned it, that’s an excellent idea! God, I’d forgotten all about that dress! We should pull it out.

Dulcie: I burned it after you graduated. Next question.

(*hides from Dulcie death stare*)

Beauty and the Beastly Books: Con, do you ever relate to someone else besides Dulcie or feel sorry for your actions? How about you, Dulcie?

Constantine: What is there to feel sorry for? I wouldn’t do the things I do if I wasn’t okay with doing them. And no, there is no one on earth like Dulcie.

Dulcie: Relate to? No. But can I be friends with other people? Yes. Strangely enough, Constantine is fine without talking to another human being if he doesn’t have to. But I don’t mind having a friend here and there, it just depends on the other person. I like genuine people. I mean, they don’t have to be crazy like me for me to be able to hang out and have a beer. And yeah, sometimes I feel a little sorry, but again, it depends. I feel sorry that Jared made such stupid decisions that led to him getting caught in the crossfire between Frannie and I. But really, that’s more his problem than mine.

Now, I’d like to go on with my interviews tradition of a quickfire Q&A, ok?!

BBB: Favorite color? (I think Con’s is red, just saying *looks at red dress and hopes he doesn’t have any “ideas”*)

Constantine: HA HA! Red is a gorgeous color, but I gotta say, blue is my personal favorite. Brings out my eyes *wink*

Dulcie: Gag me. Red is my favorite color.

BBB: Coke or Pepsi?

Constantine: I don’t drink soda.

(Of course, you don’t *rolls eyes* )

Dulcie: Coke

BBB: Day or night?

Constantine and Dulcie: Night time.

BBB: Dogs or cats?

Constantine: I’m not really a pet person.

Dulcie: Me, neither. If I had to choose one, maybe a cat? They seem kind of self-sufficient.

BBB: Would you rather live without sex or ever shedding blood again? *that’s mean, right?! Haha*

Constantine: Live without sex!? There’d be even MORE blood shed.

Dulcie: It’s not like we wake up and set out looking for ways to kill people, it’s not a sport or anything. People just … get in our way. And frankly, I don’t think I can answer, because while I definitely couldn’t give up sex, I can’t guarantee I’d never shed blood again, either.

(Could have fooled me, oops, sorry. Please don’t look at me that way!!!)

BBB: Batman or Superman?

Constantine and Dulcie: Batman

(NIIIIIIICE. I knew I liked you for a reason! LOL)

BBB: Perfect place to live?

Constantine: I like the tropics, that’s why I picked them.

(You know, I live in the tropics. AND there are a lot of people I dislike, I could point you to a few of them. I’m kidding. Not. *smirks*)

Dulcie: I never thought I’d say it, but I kinda miss the country. I miss seasons.

BBB: Jason or Freddy Kruger?

Constantine and Dulcie: Freddy Kruger

BBB: Perfect date night?

Constantine: Ooohhh, perfect date night … I love when we’re spontaneous. When she gets that look in her eye and I know the baseball bat is still in the trunk, and that by the end of the night, something will be destroyed and we’ll be naked.

(I’m actually freaked out now!)

Dulcie: He’s like a poet, isn’t he? So awful. I don’t like “date nights”, I’d rather just hang out and be us.

BBB: Bed or sofa?

Constantine and Dulcie: Bed

BBB: Books or movies?

Constantine: I love a good action flick.

Dulcie: We don’t even own a tv. Books.

*fist bumps Dulcie*

BBB: Favorite food?

Constantine: Thai food

Dulcie: Anything home cooked – fried chicken, meatloaf, mashed potatoes, all that goodness.

BBB: Favorite alcoholic drink or beverage?

Constantine: I like whiskey

Dulcie: I’m more of a beer drinker

BBB: Underwear or Commando?

Constantine: Commando

*tries REALLY hard not to look (Dulcie is such a good killer)*

Dulcie: Please, I’m from a place where the humidity reaches satanic levels. Underwear is necessary, and you’re gross, Con.

BBB: And finally, a very important one…favorite Disney movie? (I’mm kidding, don’t kill me). But it’s totally Beauty and the Beast, right?!

Constantine: I’m gonna say Hercules. I loved Hades in that movie.

(Again, of course you do!)

Dulcie: Little Mermaid. C’mon, chick trying to escape where she came from and become who she truly wants to be, so she runs away, not caring who she left behind or hurt in the process. My kind of movie.

(Hahaha I never thought about it that way. I’m not a big fan of Ariel. LOL)

Thank you so so much for coming and not killing me for these questions! If you guys ever want a third person on your “team” (not for THAT, don’t need to look at me like that, Dulcie, let me finish) you know where to find me…I’m not known for liking many people… LOL

Book Review and Character Interview: Out of Plans (Mercenaries#2) by Stylo Fantôme

HEEEEEEY Everyone!!!

This post is SUUUUUPER late!!! But better late than never, right?! LOL

Before you read this review, if you want here is my review of the first book, Best Laid Plans, it’s HERE.

* Find Marc
* DON’T find Marc
* Take down a Russian Bratva boss
* Don’t have sex with Kingsley
* Find Marc
* Take down a Colombian drug lord
* Don’t fall for Marc again
* Kill every ..

This is the story of what happens when best laid plans fail, and a vengeful woman is forced to find her own way once again. A bond broken, trust shattered, and too many lies to keep track of find Marc and Lily all out of plans and running out of time. Can they find their way back to each other before trouble finds them first, or is it really the end of their journey?

RATING: 5 Beastly Stars

5 stars5 stars5 stars5 stars5 stars

I want to start this review by saying I was right on my review of Best Laid Plans, what I missed in the first book IS  here in Out of Plans. And I’m so glad!! What I missed in it was what was yet to come and Stylo delivered it very very well.

As usual, her research was impecable. I LOVE when authors do a thorough research. And I witnessed it. Stylo asked me for a few pointers about Portuguese and Brazil, but I had no idea they were for this particular book and when I saw my actual city, Belo Horizonte, in it I totally squeeled!! LOL

Now for the story…Out of Plans starts where Best Laid Plans finished, or some months after. Lily isn’t letting Marc get away with what he did in Best Laid Plans and Marc is set on doing it his way. Fights and confusion are bound to happen and plans are bound to fail. But as a reader, we enjoy every moment of those. I LOVED how Out of Plans started and the new characters that we meet in it.

I love that Marc truly met his match in Best Laid Plans and seeing him realizing it in Out of Plans is AWESOME. Made me connect a lot more with him.

We have an even tougher Lily, a somewhat new Marc and an even more AWESOME Kingsley Law. I have to say I love Lily and Marc, but somehow I REALLY connected with Kingsley. But I have to say I connected with both Marc and Lily even more in this book than in Best Laid Plans.that for me, Kingsley completely stole the show, he is my favorite character.

Actually, Stylo introduced another GREAT side character, Damiano Ledo and I also LOVED the guy. He is such a bad guy, but hey, I have a thing for them. 🙂

Stylo has such a knack for introducing, and creating, side characters. ALL her side characters are great! I mean, her main characters are awesome, but it’s not always we see such great side characters that interact and combine so well with the main ones. I love how she brings us these great side characters that end up gaining our hearts (I mean, Sanders 4EVAH!!! <3).

Out of Plans like Best Laid Plans is FILLED with tons of action and it all works so well for the story. It doesn’t get lost in it, just the opposite, it makes the story! Out of Plans isn’t necessary a romance. Actually, here in Brazil the word for “novel” is “romance”. So a “romance” isn’t about being a romantic story, although most of them are. So Out of Plans is the type of novel that isn’t about the romance, the romance is the background to the story. And I LOVED that because it completly works. Not that it doesn’t have romance. I mean, Marc??? The man has some stamina in him!!! 😉

Another thing I LOVE about Stylo’s writing, and that is super present in this book, as in any of her other books, is the fact her characters are who they are and they don’t apologize for it. I love that, because they are not trying to be good or politicaly correct or anything like that. I love that Marc has no qualms about who he is and how me makes a living. And I LOVE that Lily came out of her shell and became like that too. In Best Laid Plans we eventually find out she has a HUGE way to go, she has a dangerous plan to get revenge against a big bad guy. And this guy finally appears in Out of Plans. Lily has gone through a LOT in her life and everything she goes through just make her tougher and tougher. But that doesn’t mean she becomes heartless, just the opposite, she has such a great heart! But just like Marc and Kingsley, she doesn’t apologize for being who she became. And I LOVE that. It’s always refreshing to see such genuine characters.

Lily had a LOT to learn, mostly physically but also emotionally. She can’t let her emotions ge the best of her, but then she has the BEST master. But then, Marcalso  has a LOT to make up to Lily, and acting all alone isn’t the right way to do it. I think his biggest lesson is learning that having a partner doens’t make him weaker, it just adds to the fun and strength in a job. And oh boy, Marc has a surprise coming his way,  he so isn’t expecting what’s coming for him, but he so needed that!!

Lily had a lot to acomplish from Best Laid Plans to Out of Plans, but she isn’t the only one. Marc too has a lot to overcome. Lily truly has changed his life and him as well. And it was great to see this change. She made him more human, but still lethal. He didn’t lose his edge, but he definitely had some changes to his personality. What happened between him and Lily was a hell of a mismatch of ideals and thoughts. He thought he was doing the best, which obviously he wasn’t and Lily was so right to be upset.  I like that Lily gives as good as she gets (in all aspects, in fighting, in sex – LOL- and in an emotional level too), and I like that doesn’t let DeSant get away with his actions. And I particularly love that even though both of them changed a lot, they didn’t lose their essence, either their own individual essence or their essence as a couple.

As I said, Out of Plans is an action-packed book, but I loved every minute of it. The action scenes are so well written and it felt like I was watching a movie. If this was a movie, I’d definitely go watch it more than once! 🙂

Once again Stylo showed her versatility as a writer.  Not only in writing stories in different genres but in creating great characters and side characters in her stories. Her characters truly make her stories, but in this case I think the story in itself, with all the action and the great scenarion, that we could feel we were into along with the characters while reading the book, is what makes Out of Plans such a great read! It’s the perfect combination of writing, flawless research, genuine and real (and refreshing) characters, great insertion of new characters and a good story!!

Today I have the pleasure of having the one and only Kingsley Law in my blog!

Beauty and the Beastly Books: Hey, Kisgsley, welcome! Can I call you Law? It’s an honor to have you here!

Kinglsey Law: Darling, you may call me whatever you like.

BBB: So, I have to say your training methods in Out of Plans really impressed me! What would it take for you to train me?

Kingsley: It’s very rigorous, requires spending many hours together naked. I feel partners should know every inch of each others bodies, don’t you? So really, just a willing heart and mind, and you’re in.

(Oh my! I don’t know if I dare…Jameson might get jealous…even though we are only together in my head! LOL)

BBB: You know, I’m a Law student and I have to say your “laws” would be much more fun to study than my country’s! You could totally come teach in my college, I’d love a Kingsley’s Laws diploma! Pretty please? *winks*

Kingsley: Kingsley’s law: flattery is always accepted, often appreciated, and never grows old. Cheers, darling.

BBB: Since I approached the subject, do you have plans for visiting Brazil soon? Marc was here in my city and even though I missed him, I’m pretty sure I can find a thing or two for you to enjoy! *looks at him with puppy eyes* (And I have the space so no worries about hotels)

Kingsley: I travel quite a bit for work, as you know, and I’ve recently become very good friends with a son of your fair city – I shall ask him to arrange a tour one of these days. With you as the guide, of course.

Squeeeee!!!! I would love to have you both on me! I mean in me…I mean, with me…Well, you got it! (Jesus, he is rather distracting).

BBB: Now seriously…Rumor has it, you’re getting your own book and I can say for myself that I’m DYING to read it! Can you tell us what to expect from it?

Kingsley: Intrigue! Sex. Danger. Sex. Explosions! Sex. Old friends and new enemies. And sex. And of course, I’m sure there will be an in depth look at what made me the amazing specimen of man you see before you, as well. Did I mention the sex bit? Lots of that.

(*fans herself* I guess I can make the sacrifice of reading some Kingsley sex scenes.)

BBB: If you could choose anywhere in the world to spend the rest of your life and anyone too, where and who would you choose? I wouldn’t be opposed at you saying me ahahaha (Ooops, did I really said that out loud? Old habits are hard to die).

Kingsley: That’s a tough question. I have more than enough money to retire right now, and very comfortably so, too – I could, in theory, do exactly what you’re saying. But I don’t like to be still. Idle hands are the devil’s playpen, darling. But if I could spend my non-retirement with just one partner … I’d choose Sheila.

*gets jealous of Sheila*

BBB: If you could “design” your perfect partner, how would he or she be? More like Lily or more like Marc?

Kingsley: Dear god, like Lily, of course. Have you met De Sant? He’s all brash and brutish, no sense of style. Not that Lily’s much better, but at least she’s easier on the eyes.

Marc is pretty easy on the eyes too! *blushes thinking of him*

BBB: I know most of your jobs are supposed to be super discreet, but can you tell, us what’s the worst one you ever had and why?

Kingsley: Worse job I ever had? Ah, the stuff of nightmares. When I was just a young thing, first starting out, I took a job from a frustrated young man. His great-aunt had buried her life savings somewhere on her property, up near York, in England. I bungled the whole situation, she found me creeping about her garden, I had to think on my feet. Said I was from a local committee, judging gardens. Complimented her roses. She invited me in for tea. I’ll spare the details, but suffice it to say, sex with an octogenarian is exactly how you’d imagine it to be.

(*gulps* I’m seriously disturbed right now! I can never say what’s coming out of his mouth and if it’s true or not! LOL)

BBB: What are you most afraid of when you go out on a new job?

Kingsley: That my equipment might get damaged beyond repair.

Boys and their toys, huh?!

BBB: What’s your signature fight move?

Kingsley: I avoid hand-to-hand combat as much as possible, that’s why I’m so picky about the jobs I choose. But if I have to fight, I’m very fast with my hands, I have a few boxing championships under my belt, back from another lifetime. I’d say my punch combo.

Ohhh I’m curious about that lifetime…And I’ve always wanted to learn how to boxe! *looks at Kingsley with puppy eyes*

BBB: Where do you see yourself in the next 10 years? Married? With kids?

Kingsley: Good god, I just had the strongest wave of nausea. I completely blacked out. Next question.

BBB: How is your ideal woman? (please say Brazilian,,please say Brazilian…oops, ai said it outloud AGAIN!  *blushes*)

Kingsley: Of course Brazilians are fabulous, darling, but I don’t like to discriminate. My ideal woman is a willing one. That’s about the only requirement.

I VOLUNTEER! *yells in her best Katniss voice*

BBB: What’s your favorite thing to do in you spare time?

Kingsley: I think I just answered this question in your last question.

BBB: What is the ultimate Kingsley Law?

Kingsley: Kingsley’s law: Fuck the laws – whatever it takes to get the job done.

That might be my favorite so far!!!

Now, it’s a tradition here on Beauty and the Beastly Books to do a rapidfire Q&A, so just answer the first thing that pops in your head!

BBB: Favorite food?

Kingsley: I love a good curry.

BBB: Favorite color? Black so no visible blood? LOL

Kingsley: I do adore black, but don’t consider it a color. I am very partial to blue, the majority of my suits are in some shade of blue or another.

BBB: Bed or sofa?

Kingsley: As long as there’s a flat surface, love, I’m good to go.

*points to the right and grins to him*

BBB: Beer or wine?

Kingsley: May I choose neither? A good brandy is best.

BBB: A book or a movie?

Kingsley: Book.

I knew I had reasons to love you!

BBB: Favorite sex position? (Sorry, couldn’t resist LOL)

Kingsley: Doggy-style. God, such barbaric terminology, isn’t it?

I don’t mind the terminology as long as…oops, I need some filter. LOL

BBB: Cats or dogs?

Kingtsley: I have a soft spot for dogs.

*thinks to herself* Awwwn, we’re meant to be

BBB: Day or night?

Kingsley: Night time.

I’m a night owl myself! 😉

BBB: The city or the countryside?

Kingsley: I prefer the bustle of a city.

BBB: Christmas or New Year?

Kingsley: New Year’s.

BBB: Favorite gun or fight implement (is that a term? I am so clueless lol)?

Kingsley: Never, darling! Perfectly legitimate question. My favorite tool is my Barrett M82A1 – little miss Sheila. I’ve had her since I was 19.

(I just love how he says darling! *le sigh*)

BBB: Now this is important…we can become friends or enemies after your answer ahahaha: Marvel or DC?

Kingsley: I’m afraid I don’t have as much time to read as I used to. I quite enjoyed Iron Man the movIe, though, does that count?

GREAT answer, darling!!! 😉

BBB: Favorite country (or city) you’ve ever been?

Kingsley: Bangkok – it’s why my home is in Thailand. Though I choose not to live in the city, it’s still my favorite place to visit. So many blind eyes so willingly looking the other way, I adore it.

BBB: Casual or chic? Although I kinda have a clue already…

Kingsley: Chic is the only answer to this question.

I think you need to meet Mr. Jameson Kane one day… I have a feeling you’d be fast friends hehehe

BBB: Night out in the city or staying in and relaxing?

Kingsley: Night out

BBB: Favorite cocktail or drink?

Kingsley: I love a good Manhattan.

*gags* Hum, just NO…

BBB: Handcuffs or rope? *looks at him seriously* (and no, it’s not for the bad guys)

Kingsley: Whichever is closest at hand, darling.

*looks around for any handcuffs or rope*

BBB: And the big, and classic, one: Boxers or briefs? Or maybe commando? *tries to sneak a peek*

Kingsley: Always briefs. I get mine specially prepared, by a darling little woman from London. All my clothes are specially made and tailored, of course. Only way to live, honestly.

What? Sorry, I was still looking around for a pair of handcuffs or some rope…Any chance I see them? Oops! I guess he IS a good mercenary. He isn’t even here anymore….

THANKS so much Kingsley (and Stylo) for another AWESOME interview!!!

Blog Tour Stop and Review + Character Interview: My Time in the Affair by Stylo Fantôme

my time in the affair blog tour

Hey everyone!!!

I’m so happy for Stylo! Not only My Time in the Affair released on May 2nd but it got #1 in Romantic Erotica on Amazon. Stylo deserves all the success and recognition! I lost count on how many people I’ve pimped her books, since Degradation! When I first read Degradation before it was even released I started recommending it and everyone  who read it LOVED it and seems like it’s the same with My Time in the Affair, everyone I recommend it to, ends up liking it!!!

I made a conscious decision to cheat on my husband.

Now, before you judge me, hear my story. Hear how much I’m like you, how similar my thoughts are to your own. Yes, I’m a horrible person. Yes, I’ve done horrible things. Yes, I don’t deserve forgiveness. Yes, bad things happened because of my actions.

But I’m willing to bet I’ve done things that maybe, just maybe, you have thought of doing.

Maybe, just maybe, you’re not as innocent as you’d like to think.

Or maybe I’m not so guilty …

WARNING: This book involves CHEATING. The word AFFAIR is in the title. The main character has an AFFAIR. In the synopsis (directly above), she states that she intentionally has an AFFAIR. If you don’t like CHEATING, then you have been VERY WELL warned. Also, this book is primarily written in the third-person narrative.

Oh WOW! That was pretty much my reaction after finishing My Time in the Affair, a month or so ago. Stylo really consolidated herself as one of my favorite authors, with this new standalone she more than proved she can write different stories than the ones she already published.

Everyone knows my love for the Kane Trilogy, Jameson and Tate are forever imprinted in my mind (and heart). But even loving it so much and knowing Stylo is an amazing writer I admit I had my doubts about this book. Not because it deals with cheating, I actually don’t have a problem with that. What I was afraid was that this could be a book about a heroine who got herself a identity crisis and got a summer fling and got back to her husband. That was when I first saw the title to Stylo’s new book.

When I read the synopsis I just KNEW it would be my kind of book! And I was right. This isn’t a book about cheating. This is simply one of the best romances I’ve read in a while. After I finished it I found some other pretty good ones, but My Time in the Affair is just such a FRESH story.

mtita teaser 10

It’s got a different vibe than most books we’ve been seeing lately and I love that! It’s this THRILLING love story. So SEXY and GRIPPING! Our hero is an alpha, but a different alphan than Jameson was. But an alpha all the way. The man can COME FIND ME anytime he wants and BREAK my you-know-what.

MTITA teaser 3

Tal has about everything (and anything) I LOVE in a book boyfriend. He is confident and cocky, but he can also be sweet in the right times.  He isn’t a guy who seduces a married woman out of her marriage. If anything he was seduced by Mischa.  I absolutely LOVED Tal from the first scene he appeared to the last one! He has a secret though, a secret Mischa wasn’t expecting. But then Mischa didn’t really expected to fall in love with her Rome affair.

MTITA Teaser 6

Yes, she was convinced she was going to cheat on her husband, but she tried and couldn’t. If it wasn’t for Tal, I honestly don’t think she could have gone through with her plan. Tal was as unexpected as their blooming love. And their relationship is so much more than an affair. Since the first moment.

Mischa, though, without knowing is in the middle of a web of intrigue and has no idea what’s coming for her. I admit at some few moments I didn’t get her, but that didn’t prevent me to like her or her love story. If I had to choose though, my favorite character would be Tal.

Tal and Mischa have an instant EXPLOSIVE chemistry! Did I mention EXPLOSIVE? Because be prepared, your painties will for sure DESINTEGRATE with the Tal loving going on there! Also he is a dirty talking, but not a calling names one…he is much more into antecipating his moves talker! And he sure DELIVERS them!!

MTITA teaser 5

The book is mainly told in third person which I prefer, but we get some POV’s from Tal and Mischa too. And as I said, My Time in the Affair is so much more than a story about a woman who cheats on her husband. I’m not saying cheating is right, but well Mischa really didn’t have a marriage. It was not about the sex, but about the fact that marriage is much more than a friendship, it’s about a partnership. Something Tal and Mischa had from the beginning.

MTITA Teaser

You know when a book doesn’t have a signature genre, like dark, MC, paranormal, but it’s a contemporary (and INCENDIARY) romance that has everything that makes a romance junkie’s heart beats faster? Well, My Time in the Affair is one of those. But what is different here? First of all the writing. The writing is OFF THE CHARTS PERFECT! Stylo knows exactly where to put her words and how to weave them and how to put her ideas into paper. As a reader I can sense that when I’m reading her books. She knows exactly how she wants her story to be and how to make it happen. That is real magic! My second choice would be Tal! God, I LOVED him! His cocky attitude (confidence, Carol! It’s confidence!), his sweet moments, how he teaches Mischa how to be brave and speak up for herself. How he calls her Misch, how he swears, how he makes their love so explosive! You gotta love a character that is written so right, that he makes you wish you were inside the story and not outside reading it. And then there are other reasons, but one I have to point out is that this book is different just for the fact that it deals with cheating with an honest front. I know, cheating is the opposite of honesty. But reading My Time in the Affair, there is no doubt this story is honest. We get to see how Mischa is from the beginning and even wanting to cheat, she isn’t a cheater. Tal and Mischa are honest about who they are and what they’re doing. There is no tip-toeing around the fact that yes, both of them are doing something wrong. Again, I don’t judge people, we can’t help falling in love. Do I think Mischa’s decisions were right? I don’t know, I do put myself in her shoes though. After all who could resist Tal, specially coming from such an empty marriage?

MTITA teaser 4

My Time in the Affair is very different than the Kane Trilogy (let’s face it, nothing can quite compare to Satan and Tate), but just like Degradation, it’s not your typical romance. That is the only similarity I find between them. Besides the amazing writing, of course. Yes, MTITA is not your typical romance, but normal is quite overrated in my opinion, so sign me up to a Stylo Fantôme’s book boyfriend any day of the year! hahaha

Although Jameson was filthy mouthed and super dirty, he is a clean-cut guy, a (not so classic) CEO. Tal is quite different. He is rugged, he is out there in your face, he is so cocky. He embodies the Mediterranean from his roots, wild and beautiful. And unpredictable, but yet someone you can trust undoubtely.

MTITA teaser 7

I don’t think Mischa is as secure of herself as she would like to be. At least not until she meets Tal. She is afraid, after all she’s been stuck in a meaninless marriage for a while. She wants to be daring and what better place than a far away country. A country known for its lively lifestyle, for partying, for passion! Funny thing is that until Tal, she didn’t actually find the passion in Italy. So yeah, I believe she learns that with the right person everywhere can be amazing, every time can be perfect and every encounter can be explosive, thrilling and amazing.

MTITA teaser 8

And it was good that for a change, the hero is the one who could admit his feelings first. Who could admit he didn’t want her to leave. Of course, Mischa doesn’t want that too, but it takes some time for her to work out the idea that she isn’t cut for a Italy fling, for one-night stands, for cheating and lying. She is made for Tal and Tal is made for her.

But will that be enough? When the person you learned to trust and whom you confided such deep secrets to turns out to be so different than you thought he was…could you still give it a chance? That is the real fire trial in their relationship. It’s not her marriage, it’s not her insecurities. It’s the fact that deep down there are still doubts and that maybe, just maybe, Tal is nothing like the man she learned to love and trust.

mtita teaser 2MTITA teaser 9

There’s not much I could say about this story and why you should read it without giving something away. Just know that if you’re reticent, it’s not about cheating. Cheating is such a small part of their love and relationship. I love the fact that the story started a way, they met, they started their fling and when we think everything is done, Stylo flips the table and gives us more. That’s what I like in a good book, how versatile yet so consistent it can be!

What Stylo did here, was turn strangers (or so it seemed *wink wink*) into lovers, into something more and flipping it all out and turning the whole story around. The adversities we thought Mischa and Tal would have are nothing like what they actyally were. It’s not even about coming clean about their affair anymore. It’s about so much more than that! I love those kinds of plot twists, even though from the mystery around Tal, I got an idea what was really happening there.

My Time in the Affair is an amazingly written book. A tale of love in the middle of the stilness in  life can be. It’s sexy as hell, captivating, exilarating, super funny (OMG, Tal is so funny. He and Mish together are the PERFECT dose of funny and sexy, with some lovely banter going one between the characters. I love the fact that during their time together we get to see them getting to know each other, more than she knew her husband in all their years together and more than Tal allowed himself to know any other women before. We get to see them falling in love and it was AWESOME to experience that alongside with them!

I’m glad so far everyone who I recommended it to, or who I see finished this book really gets it’s not about a cheating story-line. It’s about characters in a shitty situation, it’s about falling in love, it’s about accepting life’s challenges, it’s about grabbing life with our bare hands and making it our own. Making it perfect to live with the right person. With the right partner. It’s about coming to find life. Coming to find happiness! It’s about coming to find not only the time they met through their affair, but it’s about coming to find what else they can live out of the affair!

Mischa snorted, stood up, and began collecting her paperwork. The man stood up as well, and next thing she knew, he was pressed up against her side. She started to pull away, but he wrapped his arm around her waist.

“What are you doing!?” she was shocked.

“The night is young, and you are very beautiful. Come, let us get to know one another,” his voice was low as he leaned down towards her. She practically bent in half trying to get away.

“You’re about to get to know my fist! Let go of me!” she snapped.

“American women are so feisty, I love it. I will show you -,”

Babe! Sorry I took so long!

Misch turned her head and stared in shock as a second man came up to her other side, grabbing her free hand and bringing it to his lips, kissing the backs of her fingers.

Am I releasing pheromones or something!?

“Excuse me!?” she squeaked. The new guy was tall, and though he blended in with the local scenery, his accent was American. He didn’t look at her, just held her hand and glared at the other man.

“Can I help you?” he demanded.

“You know this woman?” the Italian guy questioned.

“I should hope so, I fucking married her,” new guy snapped, then grabbed her left hand, holding it up so the other man could see her wedding set.

“I am sorry. She said she was alone,” Cassanova began sliding away.

“Well, she’s not alone anymore, so get the fuck out of here.”

Misch’s mind was blown, and she didn’t say anything as the American man hugged her close to his side. She watched as the Italian gentleman glared at them for a moment longer, then walked away, cursing in the other language. A deep voice chuckled from above her, and she was let go.

“Did you just save me?” she asked, moving away from her new friend.

“Yeah, you looked like you needed it,” he informed her, smiling down at her.

Oooohhhh, wow. And I picked tonight of all nights to not dress up …

“I’m sorry, who are you?” she blurted out.

“Your savior.”

He was smiling, but she didn’t feel like he was joking. His voice was low and his smile sly. He had incredibly thick, black hair, which almost shined and had waves on top of his head. His eyes were so dark, they almost looked black, matching his thick eyebrows and heavy lashes. His lips were on the fuller side, and he easily had two days worth of stubble on his jaw. Her heart started beating faster.

No, no, no. This can’t be happening. I’m not doing this. I don’t want this.

I don’t know if  you remember my last character interview, where I had a birthday party on my blog and the crew from The Kane Trilogy came to visit me. Well, I was looking for Tal, because we’d scheduled an interview too…

*hides behind the hot Mediterranean-looking man before Jameson chases her*

Carol: Phew…thanks so much, he did not like my twerking idea…OMG, Tal!!! *doesn’t  where to look at (he is really good-looking)* I was looking for you! I’m so glad you could come! Thank you so much for your presence, I know you don’t like to leave Mischa alone…

Tal: HAHA well, you’ve seen the kind  of trouble she can get into when left alone

Carol: First of all, I want to know, when are you coming for a mission (or pleasure time) here in Brazil? It’s no Rome, but I could get my v…broken here too! I’ve already made a t-shirt for that *shows him a t-shirt saying “Got my v*** broken in Brazil in the front and #TalCameToFindMe in the back*. I really hope Mischa doesn’t kick my ass, Tate is a good sport with my questions to Jameson ahaha

Tal: If you promise to make one in my size, I’ll make Brazil our next destination.

*hm…tries to figure out what his size is*

Carol: What was your first ever impression of Mischa? When you officially met her, I mean?

Tal: That she was very gorgeous and very nervous.

Carol: Do you still really enjoy your job? Would you changed it if Mischa wanted? (I don’t think she would though…)

Tal: Coming out with the hard stuff! It would be rough, but if she really couldn’t handle it, if that was the breaking point, yeah, I would leave my job. In a heart beat.

*break for swooning*

Carol: What’s up with the hide and seek routine? Who am I kidding? That’s super hot! (Jesus, did I say that out loud…AGAIN?)

Tal: HAHA gotta keep the ladies on their toes.

*I know I’m on my toes*
Carol: In your opinion what are Mischa’s best qualities? And the worst ones?

Tal: Her best quality is that she’s a realist – she examines every thought, every emotion, to see if it’s … I don’t know, “correct”, in her mind. Her worst quality is she has a lot of self-doubt.

Carol: A tough one, but please know that I don’t judge you or even Mischa…I get her completely… How could you tell you can trust her not to cheat on you?

Tal: Because she wasn’t that girl, not really. She’s not a cheater. I know that sounds stupid, but she isn’t. If it hadn’t been me, if it hadn’t been her, I honestly think that she never would’ve cheated at all. Fate. What a bitch.

(Isn’t his answer PERFECT? I totally agree with him!)

Carol: Speaking of it…you should really get in the business of helping unhappily married women to feel sexy again.. I’m not married, but I could use some #TalCharm….Sorry, I disgress…Before Mischa, what would you say you looked for in a woman (even if it was just for pleasure)? And what changed after Mischa?

Tal: Before Mischa, I looked for nice legs and nicer tits. Low standards and lower morals – fun-on-the-go. Mischa changed everything. She made me want to have conversations at 3am, and go to stupid cafes at 1 in the afternoon. Made me want to hold on to something.

Carol: What is the most amazing place in the world you have ever been?

Tal: What’s with women and this question!? HAHA~ Honestly, I don’t pay a whole lot of attention anymore. I’d have to say home. Jerusalem.

(Would you take me? I’ve always wanted to know there!)

Carol: If you could live anywhere, besides Italy, with Mischa, where would you choose?

Tal: I’m partial to the southern coast of Europe in general, though I also like Thailand a lot. But really, she just has to say “we’re moving” and I’d just say “where to?”

(Please, Mischa, don’t come to kiss my ass, but I’d totally stalk him to any of those places. I really want to get to know them too!)

Carol: In your opinion what is the best memory of Italy with Mischa you have? And what do you think is hers?

Tal: Hmmm …. are we talking PG-13, or X-Rated? HAHA My best memory is the time we spent together in Positano. Even with all the shit going on with her ex, her family, all of it – it’s still the place where we really … came together, you know?

In my blog you can ALWAYS be X-Rated haha. And yeah, I know, I really agree with you!

Carol: Do you have any hot friends to introduce me to? Don’t mind me, I’m probably drunk on some birthday punch…Hey speaking of it, where is my bday gift???

Tal: I packed you one, but Misch claimed it was “inappropriate” and then some name-calling happened. But don’t worry, I’ll mail it to you.

*slips Tal her mail address* I’m looking forward to it! Like anything is inappropriate after I met Jameson bahahaha.

Carol: Sorry again…well let’s change subjects, I don’t want you getting aggraveted with me like Jameson did…I know you’re a gentleman (although I like when you aren’t *looks coily at him*).
I don’t know if you already know about my blog’s traditon, but after some questions I always do a quickfire Q&A with my guests, where you answer the first thing that comes to you mind…Ready? (hm…I bet you’re always ready *winks*)

BBB: Bed or Sofa?

Tal: HAHA anywhere I can make it happen
BBB: Top or Bottom?

Tal: Top – but honestly, I’m just happy to be invited to the party

(Well, I AM indeed having a party…*speculates*)

BBB: Are you a breast man or a butt man?

Tal: You can’t ask a man that! It’s impossible! Both. All of it. Everything.

BBB: Movies or books?

Tal: Books

(Brownie points here!!)

BBB: Wine or beer?

Tal: Beer

BBB: Favorite kind of lingerie (and color) in a woman?

Tal: Anything red is sexy, and hot damn, a whatchamacallit … with the laces … a corset. With thigh highs!

*checks her phone for the closest lingerie shop*

BBB: Chocolate or chips?

Tal: Chips

BBB: Naked or half-naked?

Tal: Naked, as much and as often as possible

BBB: Dogs or cats?

Tal: Dogs

BBB: Rope or feather?

Tal: Excellent question! Hmmm … I’d have to say feather.

Oh Really??? *wonders why*

Don’t look at me like that!! Sorry, but everyone wants the nitty-gritty ones, I’m getting famous for those kind of questions hahaha

BBB: Spanking or being spanked? (Wanna test that?)

Tal: Bend over and you can get my answer right away

Oh my! *Gets up to do it, but realises there are people around*Ooops, raincheck?

BBB: Cars or Bikes?

Tal: I love a suped up bike

BBB: And finally, boxers or briefs?

Tal: Briefs – I have a weird thing for bright colors, too. Anything to give the ladies a show.

*looks down hoping he’ll show*

BBB: OHHHHH I have a last one *smiles devilishly*…Are you a shower or a grower?

Tal: AHAHAHAHA what kind of question is that!? I mean, in my opinion, I’ve got a frickin’ show stopping, award winning, tool of magic in my pants. Totally. But I suppose you’d have to ask Misch … though I’m positive her answer will be the same.
(Tool of magic????? *looks down, REALLY hoping he’ll show her*)

Thank you so much for being here Tal, it means a lot to me! Plus it’s been really fun, right?!
I’d ask you for a shout out to my friend Jessie, but she agreed you could be mine for my birthday, so, sorry, Jessie, he’s all mine today! 🙂
You can #ComeFindMe anytime you want!! 🙂

Tal: Thank for having me, and yeah, if you’re ever lost, you definitely know who to call.

*proceeds to make a plane to get lost real soon*

Hahaha that was fun!!

Character Interview: Jameson, Tate, Sanders and Ang from the Kane Trilogy by Stylo Fantôme

Happy Birthday to me! Happy Birthday to me!!!

Yes, today is my birthday and to help me celebrate my 26 candles I have some pretty special people here!!! Some of my favorite characters of all time came to drink some punch and answer some of my questions: Jameson Kane, Tate, Sanders and Ang!!

Now, if you remember, Jameson and Tate were here before for this HILARIOUS interview.

If you haven’t read Completion (the short – and final – story after book 3) this interview contain spoilers! If you read Completion, my first interview with Tate and Jameson was featured in the end of the book, in the extras!

Here is the interview (in the end you might get a hint for what’s to come in my character’s interview hall..)

Hey guys!! Thank you so much for coming to my impromptu Birthday Interview!! It’s an honor to have you here as part of my celebration! 26 doesn’t sound so bad now!

Jameson and Tate it’s wonderful to have you again!!! Sanders, you look dapper in that suit…and Ang..hmmm nice to meet you*blushes*

*looks behind*Where is Tal? Well, I’ll have to start without him…

So, in my blog’s tradition I’ll make a couple questions to you and then a quickfire Q&A that you’ll andwer with the first thing that comes to mind…

BBB: Jameson, how is married life treating you? You know, I called that number you gave me the last time but it was disconnected… If I didn’t love Tate I’d be mad Alol

Jameson: Ah, yes. Things have gotten a little crazier, I had to change my number. Married life is the same as unmarried life, the only difference is the name she signs on her receipts. I keep reminding her about the “honor & obey” part, but she never fucking listens.

BBB: Jameson, what’s the thing you do to Tate that you most like? (*wonders if he’d pull my her just for a little taste if I ask*). – Did I say that out loud???

Jameson: Thing I like to do the most to Tate? Jesus, have you got an hour? You do realize the woman let’s me do anything I want. But I must say, my absolutely most favorite thing to do – is to get her to shut up. Rarely happens, is a blessing when it does.

BBB: Tate, how about you, how is it being married to Mr. Satan?

Tate: Pretty awesome, cause now he’s not as scary. I mean, what’s he gonna do? He’s married to me, I’m not going anywhere, muahahaha.

*turns to Ang blushing*

BBB: Ang, give me the scoop…how is being a porn star for real? Does it feel as mechanical as we see them? You know, I have a couple of friends who would love James Dean number, if you have… *bats eyelashes*

Ang: For reals, it’s the coolest. thing. ever. I mean, yeah, it can be mechanical, and the “bigger” you get, the more work it really is, but I worked hard to get here – I wouldn’t give it up for anything. And James Dean isn’t too cool with me, ever since I scored that big role over him – though personally I think it’s cause I out-wondered his wonder-schlong. Am I allowed to say wonder-schlong?

Tate: You can’t say “wonder-schlong”, this is an interview! Be classy, for fuck’s sake.
Ang: Oh, you can say “fuck” but I can’t say “wonder-schlong”?
Tate: There’s a huge difference between “fuck” and “wonder-schlong”!
Ang: No there isn’t! So I’m gonna say -,

Jameson: If EITHER of you say wonder-ANYTHING again, I will be the one with a fucking problem. Now shut the fuck up and let her talk.

*turns head back and forth laughing*Thank you, Jameson!

BBB: What’s the deal with Ellie? And how did you like your Brazilian fling*you could totally have another now* (oops, did I voice that?)

Ang: Ellie is good, working on baby number two, I think. She was … I don’t know, you know … like sometimes, when things are fucked up, other fucked up things don’t seem so bad, you know? I missed my friend, and Ellie and I would hang out at the hospital, or at Tate’s old apartment, and it just kinda happened. It was weird, this rich chick being so into me. What can I say? I liked it. And I’m down for some Brazilian any time, sweetie.

*wonders if he’ll take his shirt off* Hm…good to know, thanks Ang!! Maybe your number will work! *turns evil look to Satan*

BBB: Sandy.. Can I call you Sandy? (*without Tate punching me*)… Well, tell me, do you believe that Tate is your soulmate? I absolutely love the relationship you have with her! Also the one you have with Jameson…
Sanders: I am the one who called her my soulmate, so it would be rather odd if I didn’t believe that statement. People think I am emotionless. But in reality, it is the exact opposite. Tate is very special to me, and I to her.

*swoons* ( I wanna be BFFs with Sandy too!!!)

BBB: Sanders again, how about Jameson…how it was being raised by him? Do you see him as a father or a big brother?

Sanders: I was fairly beyond the age of being impressionable by the time Jameson came into my life, I was thirteen. He saved my life, and opened doors that never would have even been available to me, so to reach this age under his patronage has been an honor. I have a father, I have never seen Jameson as a father. He has always been my guardian. A guiding light, if you will. An inspiration.
BBB: Sanders, do you miss living with Tate and Jameson? Do you think you’ll go back to living with them??
Sanders: Of course I miss living with them, but no, that chapter is closed. We can be family without living under the same roof.

Do you all want some more of my birthday punch? I know it’s pink, Jameson, but you look totally hot drinking it! *winks*

Now to our quickfire questions to the four of you:

BBB: Favorite Food (*hopes Jameson says something I can cook*)?

Jameson: Food? French. Dish? Steak, extra rare.

*goes look for her French cookbook*
Tate: Chinese food
Ang: Ditto on the Chinese
Sanders: Thai
BBB: Sanders and Ang – favorite color?
Ang: I don’t know if I have a favorite color. I like anything bright. The more neon, the better.
(I can see that…)
Sanders: I’m partial to blue. Maybe cornflower, or cobalt.

BBB: Mixed drinks or shots?Jameson: I don’t care either way

Tate: Honestly, probably shots.

Ang: BODY shots, ha ha.

Sanders: I avoid imbibing, but when the situation calls for it, a mixed drink is preferred.

BBB: Getting drunk or getting high?

Jameson: neither

(I’d love to see Jameson drunk someday ahahaha)

Sanders: neither

Ang: definitely high
Tate: Oh, I was gonna say drunk till you said that, but I don’t know! What kind of high? I’d rather smoke a joint than get drunk, but I’d rather get drunk than take ecstasy. God, I sound awful, I don’t even do ecstasy. Still. I don’t know. Whatever the situation calls for.

BBB: Books or Movies?Jameson: either(Oh, no Jameson…it will ALWAYS be books!!! LOL)

Tate: movies

Ang: movies
Sanders: books
(And that is why I love you, Sandy!!!)

BBB: One night stands or Dating?

Jameson: a one night stand got me into this mess – maybe I should’ve tried dating.

Tate: oh, shut up, you poop. One night stands were always easier than anything I’ve gone through with Satan over here.
(True dat!!)
Jameson: you loved every moment.
Tate: That’s what you think.
Ang: God, stop flirting, I’m gonna barf. I could go either way.
Sanders: I think dating would always be in everyone’s best interest.

BBB: If you could travel to any place in the world, where would you choose?Jameson: I can travel to any place in the world.(Don’t need to rub it off, Mr. Kane!! Can you take me next time???)

Tate: you’re such a dick! I’d go to anywhere on the Mediterranean, I love it there.

*high fives Tate*

Ang: okay, so, I’d go back to Boston, cause down on the south side, they have this AMAZING hot dog place, and ever since I’ve moved out to L.A., I’ve been dying for it. They toast the buns, and the relish is hand made, and I used to screw this waitress, so I would get extra -,

Tate: He will literally talk about this place all night. Move onto Sanders.

Sanders: The beach.
(Brazil has many beaches…. *looks hopeful*)
Tate: … just any beach?
Sanders: a private beach.
Tate: I never would’ve guessed!
Jameson: Sanders loves the beach.

Sanders: I love privacy and quiet and nature. A private beach provides these things.

BBB: Weirdest place you’ve ever had sex? Sandy, you don’t have to answer that, but if you want to answer later, I have this weird place I’d love to show you! *wink, wink* (my friend Jessie would kill me though)

Jameson: it would be easier to list the non-weird places I’ve had sex.

*blushes* Oh, God!!!!

Tate: hmmm, so many men, so many places! I once had sex in an empty tiger enclosure at the Franklin Park Zoo, that was pretty weird. Ang and I did it in a wax museum, in a display. We thought it was closed and had to hold still for twenty minutes while a retirement home took their patients through on a tour.
Ang: ah, good times. I’m a porn star – having sex in a bed is almost weird to me, anymore.

BBB: cuffs or rope?(Seriously what happened to my questions, I can’t believe these are mine!! Lol)Ang: I think they’re excellent questions! And if YOU have any questions about cuffs or ropes, I could totally help you out with that.
Thanks, Ang!!! I’ll think about it…
Tate: Ug, listen to him. Neither for me.
Jameson: Rope
BBB: Sanders –  Tate or Jameson?(Now, don’t scowl Jameson, I still love you!)
Sanders: this is an impossible question. If I were in jail and had one phone call, it would be to Jameson. If I were stuck on a deserted island and could only take one person, it would be Tatum. But these are facetious answers to a facetious question. I could never choose, I love them equally.
Awwwwwn!!! Ovaries explosion all over this party right now!!
BBB: underwear or Commando?(*hopes Jameson will take it all off this time)Jameson: I prefer commando, but am wearing briefs right now. And if it wasn’t a guarantee that Tate would pitch a fucking fit, I would gladly show you.
Tate: hey, I’m not saying anything. Do what you want.
*wonders if he will do it*
Ang: commando
*tries to take a look*
Sanders: I feel that’s very unhygienic of the both of you. I prefer briefs, I have them custom made.

I wouldn’t expect nothing less from you, Sanders!!

Thank you so much!! Oh my! Ang sure knows how to twerk!! I might need to cut off the punch!!!*takes off the glass from everyone’s hands before anyone gets drunk*

Jameson, any chance you could twerk for us? No??? Gee, why that face?
*hides behind Ang*

Oh, there’s Tal…guess I’ll have to interview him now… Laters, everyone!!!

*runs towards the really good looking guy with the Mediterranean eyes to protect her from Jameson*

Character Interview: Kes Donohue from The Traveling Duet by Jane Harvey-Berrick

Hi everyone!!

Guess what, as an early birthday gift, Kes from The Traveling Duet agreed to let me interview him…

Now, if you haven’t read The Traveling Man and The Traveling Woman you are MISSING OUT!!! Seriously!

A warning though, if you haven’tread them, this interview contain some spoilers, specially of book 2, The Traveling Woman!!

I hope you enjoy it!!!

Hi Kes! Welcome to Beauty and the Beastly Books!!

Hey! It’s great to be here. Yeah, books. More Aimee’s thing, but whatever – go with the flow.

BBB: First of all thank you for being here, this is a wonderful birthday gift!!
Yeah? Happy birthday. Aimee bakes a bitchin’ cake. Just sayin’.

BBB: Tell us, would you trade not having the accident for a life outside the Carnival?

No. I’ve tried life outside the carnival, and that’s not living – not for me. Even if I’d fucked up my back permanently, I’d have strapped myself on a motorcycle and still done stunts. I know that’s all kinds of fucked up – I guess my brain is wired differently. That’s what Aimee says!

BBB: We readers could all feel the magic in your story, it felt so alive! How is it for you and Aimee, especially now that you live in love instead of fight for it?
Jesus, you’ll make me sound like a sap! It’s cool, yeah? We travel 8 or 9 months of the year. Aimee does her teaching online, and some of the carnie kids are coming to her now. It means families can stay together. That’s important. I want my kids to have that. One day.

BBB: Do you think you will have a relationship with the Senator? How did you really feel about his presence and help during your hospital time?
Asshole fuckwit. Next question.

BBB: I know this is a touchy subject for you and please don’t be offended (*or hit me*), but what in the hell did you see in Sorcha??? She was evil since the beginning!!
Fuck, really? Okay, I’m just going to say this once. It was easy. I didn’t care about her, so she couldn’t hurt me. Next question.

BBB: from your POV how was your first kiss on the top of the Ferris wheel with Aimee?
That’s a bit freakin’ personal! It was … magic.

BBB: You know, my family do that motorcross stuff, one of them actually had an accident like yours (but jumping on a paraglider) and he chose not having the surgery like you…what was the worst thing about it? (*besides the no sex issue* oops did I say that out loud?? LOL)

Oh, man. I’m really sorry to hear that. I wouldn’t wish that shit on my worst enemy. Yeah, not having sex was pretty shitty, but the worst thing was the look on Aimee’s face. That just about slayed me. My girl – staying strong for both of us. She pretended she was okay, but she didn’t fool me. I knew she was going up to our room at night and breaking down. And there was fuck all I could do about it. That was the worst.

How’s your family doing? Did he recover okay? I hope so. Maybe I know the dude?

BBB: I don’t think you do, but yeah, he had a full recover! 🙂

And it’s my tradition to make this quick fire Q&A’s where you’ll answer the first thing that comes to your mind:
Coke or Pepsi? Water
Day or Night? Dawn.

(Hum, seems like our Kes actually can’t go with the flow…lol)
The Beach or the Country? Country.
Favorite color? Auburn – like Aimee’s hair. Yeah, yeah, I know. Next.
Favorite ride on the carnival? Ferris wheel.

(I have a Ferris wheel charm on my Pandora bracelet for you…seems like I made the right choice!)
Favorite hobby? Fucking.

*fans herself* God, it’s HOT in here!!!
Favorite animal? Capuchin monkey.
Beer or Wine? Water.
Salt or sweet? Sweet, like my girl.

Awwwnnnnn *swoons*

And finally…Boxers or Briefs? Fuck me! Neither. [smirks]
Oh no wait…KEEEES…I forgot one last thing…what’s your number?

LMAO – Ask Aimee!

(Yeah, like I would, I’ve seen what she did to Sorcha…)

Jane thank you so much forallowing me to interview Kes!!! This was super fun!!!

Blog Tour Stop and Characters Interview: Reparation (The Kane Trilogy #3) by Stylo Fantôme

Hey everyone!!

I couldn’t be more excited for a blog tour as I am now!! Keep reading to check out my review and an AWESOME (if I say so) interview with Jameson and Tatum, main characters of this series!!

The Devil has met his match

When Tatum O’Shea decides it’s time for some payback, no one is safe from her new game – not even the devil himself. Tate is going to get her happily every after, even if it means making everyone else unhappy in the process.

But a persistent Jameson, a meddling Sanders, and an amorous baseball player make it very hard for a girl to keep her focus, and suddenly it seems Tate has a few too many suitors for her fairy tale ending.

Sometimes, it’s very difficult to tell who Prince Charming really is …

WARNING: may induce Kindle throwing, screaming at fictional characters, and possibly a few tears. Also graphic sexual situations and sadomasochistic themes.

It’s always sad to me to see a book coming to an end, but when it’s a series, one where actually all books are excellent, it’s even harder.

Discovering Stylo Fantôme and her books is one of the best things that happened to me in 2014 bookwise. I live to find exceptional writers like her and I love when I do find them suddently, like I did. I got an email about a sign-up for a tour for a book called Degradation that seemed promising. I did sign up and got an ARC and the rest is history.

I was blown away by the fact that these books are Stylo’s first books. She writes as veteran writer, if there is even such a thing like it.

She consistently maintained the essence of her characters and that is one hell of a difficult thing to do in a series. No matter the changes the characters went through, she remained loyal to them and that is a seriously AWESOME thing to do.

In this final book, we get the real inversion of roles, where Tate is portrait as Satan. There’s a symbolism of this in the covers. I only figured out the one in Reparation’s cover, but Stylo solved the mystery to me. There’s an “S” in Tate’s earring in this final book’s cover, because she is the Satan of this novel. In Degradation and Separation‘s covers the “S” is in Jameson (not gonna say where, it’s fun to look out for them lol).

I was prepared to see Tate grow up in this book, but then we see the growth in the other characters as well. Jameson has come a long way and so has Sanders. But we also see Ag and even Tate’s sister learn valuable lessons.

I can honestly say everyone in the series gets what they deserve.

Tate goes from sweet, innocent girl, to sexy daredevil and finally to a woman that understands herself more than she ever did and now also understands what she wants in life. Jameson is still a jerk, thank God, because I couldn’t bare him not being one. But he also learns to be a little less cold and Sandy…well, Sandy is one of the best things in this series! Let’s leave it at this, because you have to see what happens!!

I’ve seen so many pussified heroes in series or just sequels, that I’m always afraid to read them. But in this case, Jameson never did turn into a pussy. He remained truthful to what and who he is since the beginning of book 1. Of course, there has been some adjustments, because as much as I’d like to think he was, he wasn’t perfect. Tate wasn’t perfect either. Specially in Separation, she frustrated me a lot. But in Reparation, we get to see they weave theirselves into the destiny they want.

For me it’s important in a book, for it to blow me away, that the characters are well built, and are consistent. That the story is a solid one, well written and believeable and that the writing is natural, that it makes the story flows as we read it. Reparation (and the other books in the series) has all that (plus Sanders, because every book should have a Sanders!!). Not only the main characters are great, the supporting ones are too! Nick is great during this book, as much as I love Jameson, I rooted for Nick’s happiness as well. Of course, I think Tate shouldn’t be with him, but he deserves to be happy, because he is a good guy. Too bad, I prefer the bad ones, just like Jameson! 😉

This story is not your fairytale love story. Just as Jameson once said he isn’t Prince Charming. But who needs Prince Charming when they have a Jameson Kane in their arms (and bed)??? Jameson is not your typical hero either. But neither is Tate the typical heroine and that is why they work so well together. They complement each other perfectly. Jameson is dirty mouthed and mean to Tate, but she gets off on it, so it’s just another proof that they work together, despite the bumps in their way. They’ve struggled a lot, and it was fun, and sometimes sad, to see it, but their struggle is just another proof that real life isn’t a fairytale. Real life is made of real people, who deal with real problems and Tate and Jameson, despite their unusual relationship, feel very, very real to us readers.

“All I wanted was sex. Just a little freaky sex, every now and then. When the fuck did it get so complicated?” he grumbled.”

Reparation is the PERFECT ending to these series. She couldn’t have made it more perfect if we’d asked her to! Stylo should bottle up how to make a good ending and sell it, because she’d be rich with it! This book was even more than what I expected it to be and I’m glad it hasn’t dissapointed be anytime…Unless you count the fact that I wish Stylo kept writing them forever, just so I don’t have to say goodbye to Jameson and Tate, I love their fights! LOL

Actually, there is a novella/short story coming. You get to see the prologue of Completion  it in the end of Reparation and I can’t wait for it to be released! It made me hungry for even more!

This series is THE debut series for me and Stylo is THE debut author of 2014 for sure, in my opinion! Her story is carefully written and you feel like the characters are in your real life with you, because they pack a hell of a lot of emotions with them. I’ve cried with and for Tate, I’ve wanted to kill, kiss and marry Jameson, I’ve wanted to have a sleepover with Sanders and be his best friend. And above it all, I’ve wanted to see these characters flourish and become what they were meant to be since the beginning!

Stylo has paved her way into the indie world masterfully and I can’t barely wait to see what more she brings to it, because I’m sure it will be amazing. Although Jameson will always be in my heart!

Teaser 6

Oh and another reason to love Jameson, if I already didn’t, is that Stylo’s visual for him is actually a young David Gandy! It doesn’t get better than that!!

WARNING: The Character Interview might contain spoilers if you haven’t read book 3 yet…

It’s such a pleasure to have both of you here in Beauty and the Beastly Books! And by Beastly I’m not even referring to you, Jameson.. *winks*

* Beauty and the Beastly Books: So, you’re here, together. And we all know what it took for this to happen. Do you think you’ll both settle and become one of those boring, acommodated couples?

Jameson: Well, I’m not sure what you mean, Tate’s already boring.
Tate: HEY! Truth, I don’t think we’ll ever be boring – ONE OF US has a flair for the dramatics (hint, it isn’t me). And you can call me boring all you want, Satan, because I’m damn accommodating.

*Beauty and the Beastly Books: Tate, I particularly have NO problems with the way Jameson talks to you or treats you, because coming from him that is a sign of love (sorry, Jameson) and you obviously gets a kick out of it too…But is there anything you won’t do for him? And is there a name you don’t like and won’t have him call you?

Tate: Hmmm, it kinda depends. Calling me “stupid” in bed is different, we’re playing, it’s not real. If we were at the store, and he was like “hey, stupid bitch, what kind of cheese should we get?” I’d probably punch him in the balls. But in bed … no, I can’t think of anything I wouldn’t do for him or a name he can’t call me. Except I wouldn’t do a threesome with Pet. That’s disgusting.

I have to agree with that, Tate. Pet should just die, I mean, disappear. *winks*

*Beauty and the Beastly Books: Jameson, what is a thing you’d never ask of Tate (in and out of bed)?

Jameson: I would never ask her to let me hurt her if she didn’t want it. I would never ask her to hurt herself. But that’s about. Asking permission isn’t really my thing.

(Is it my impression or it’s suddenly hot in here?? *fans herself*)

*Beauty and the Beastly Books:  Is there a Jameson/ Sanders threesome in your future, Tate? *looks at Jameson apologizing* Please don’t kick me, Jameson!

Jameson: That question just made me physically ill.
Tate: Oooohhhh, my birthday is right around the corner! What a good idea! hahaha, no, even as freaky as I am, that might get a little weird. Maybe for my birthday I’ll ask for a weekend where I get to do whatever I want to Sandy, we could go-
Jameson: NO.

(Ooops, I better change the subject *thinks to herself*)

*Beauty and the Beastly Books: Jameson, what do you say about all these ladies having their panties melting because of you? *looks to the side and checks out underwear number 2 to see if it’s still holding*

Jameson: I’d say it’s more of the same, and clearly they have excellent taste. They should just stop wearing panties all together. Very bothersome article of clothing.

(In that case, let me go out just for a minutes. *thinks to herself, but refrains from getting up from the chair*)
Tate: Now I’M physically ill.

*Beauty and the Beastly Books: Tate, a lot of ladies compare Jameson’s looks with Nick Bateman and David Gandy’s. I particularly think he’s a younger looking Gandy but with a better cock I like to think…Which of the two do you think resemblers him more? (Actually could you also tell us if he’s a potato like Gandy or a cucumber like Bateman?) *tries guessing looking a Jameson’s penis. I mean, PANTS*

Tate: I don’t see the Bateman at all – too scrawny. Do you see this broad-shouldered-beast sitting next to me!? Much more like Gandy, but … meaner? HAHAHA And there ain’t no potato hiding in those pants.
Jameson: Jesus, if we’re going to spend the majority of the time talking about my dick, I could just take my pants off.
Tate: No one likes a show-off.

(I DO!! *raises hand*)

*Beauty and the Beastly Books: Tate, can you tell us what this cheap “pearl” necklace means to you? We all saw it/ read about it, but I’m sure there’s more people than me wanting to know more about what it means to you?

Tate: Oh, my precious. It actually sits in the safe at home, now. To me … it was a sign. I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but doesn’t it kinda seem like not a whole lot gets through that thick head of his? He’s got an amazing poker fake, I always think he’s not listening to me, or doesn’t care about what I’m saying. That necklace showed me that he hears everything, every word I’ve ever said, and remembers them. It tells me that he loves me enough to do something against his nature, against his inclination, against what HE wants to do. Jameson rarely does something he doesn’t want to do. It just … it meant a lot. It meant everything.
Jameson: I swear to god, if you start crying, I’m leaving.
Tate: You’re such a dick.

(But he is a hot dick.*sighs*)

*Beauty and the Beastly Books:  Jameson, what about you? We know you’d love to replace it with a real, expensive pearl necklace, but it’s so touching and swoon-worthy that you chose to give her a cheap one! What were you aiming for? Being sweet and romantic or just staking your claim?

Jameson: I was aiming for a reaction. A good one. I don’t know shit about being sweet or romantic, but Tate kept saying that I never listened to her. I wanted to show her that I hear everything. She said if a gift was given with love, she would see the true value, not the price tag. So I got her a piece of shit and prayed that she would see the value. Women are so fucking strange.

(Hey, I’m proud to be strange!)

*Beauty and the Beastly Books: Tate, now for real and without embarrassing Sanders, because I absolutely LOVE him…What’s up with asking to take his virginity? Would you really do it? And Jameson, what would be your reaction to that?

Tate: Hey, I was in a bad place! I wasn’t thinking very straight. And totally honest …, at the time, yeah, I would have. Sanders is special to me. The idea of him doing it with some random girl, who wouldn’t take the time to make him feel good, or maybe would just be using him for his money or something, god. I’d have to kill the chick. I swear, any and all future girlfriends will have to get through me, first. I should start sending out applications. The woman who gets to be with Sanders … she’ll have to be beyond perfection. I don’t think there’s one worthy of him – including me. I just think I could make it really fun for him, hahaha
Jameson: Remember that whole “physically ill” statement earlier?
Tate: just answer the question.
Jameson: I wouldn’t allow it.
Tate: Jameson ….

*looks back and forth*

Jameson: I would kill both of you.
Tate: Jameson! Shut up and be honest.
Jameson: I wouldn’t like it. It would make me … uncomfortable. I don’t like to be uncomfortable. But I care about both of them, and if they both honestly thought it was the best solution to his “problem” …. I would think about it. But I wouldn’t like it.
Tate: That wasn’t so hard, was it?
Jameson: Shut the fuck up.

*le sigh*

*Beauty and the Beastly Books: This is for the both of you…Tell me in your opinion Jameson, which are Tate’s best and worst qualities? The same for you, Tate, which are Jameson’s?

Jameson: Finally, my kind of questions – her best quality is how she fucks. Worst is that she snores.
Tate: I am never sleeping with you again. Jameson’s best quality is that despite all appearances, he’s actually very forgiving. He talks a big game, but he lets me get away with murder. He lets me be me, he lets everyone around him be who they want to be. His worst quality is that he almost completely lacks empathy.

*high fives Tate*

*Beauty and the Beastly Books: Also for both of you, if you’d have to describe each other in one word, what word would you choose? Satan and bitch aren’t allowed! *winks*

Tate: HAHAHAHA, dammit … uh, dick? No … asshole? No, we can do better, um …, rude? Arrogant? Bossy? Controlling? Domi-
Jameson: We’re going to be here all night if you don’t shut her up. One word for Tate – loving.
Tate: One word for Jameson – taboo.

(Ohhh I’ve always loved the word “taboo”!!!)

*Beauty and the Beastly Books: Jameson, what is something about Tate that you don’t know, but would love to? And please refrain from fighting in here...*although the make-up would be hot, cough, cough, interesting to watch*

Jameson: Something I don’t know? God, that’s hard – she never shuts up, I’m pretty sure I’ve heard her life story about a million times. Hmmm … I guess I’d like to know exactly what she thought she’d get out of life with Nick that she thought she couldn’t have had with me.

*Beauty and the Beastly Books: Tate, what is something you know about Jameson, but wish you didn’t. *please don’t say he is actually small, it’d ruin my visual*

Tate: HAHAHA, no, Jameson is gorgeous all over. Just ask him, he’ll tell you. Something I wish I didn’t know … it’s kind of selfish. I wish I didn’t know how badly I hurt him, when I went to Arizona. We’ve talked about it a lot. A while ago, he said he hadn’t known the kind of power he had, that he could hurt me as badly as he did, with Pet. Well, I had no clue I could do it back. And I did. I don’t know how if I’ll be able to really forgive myself.

*Beauty and the Beastly Books: Jameson, how does it feel to be Satan?

Jameson: Have you seen the car I drive? The clothes I wear? The woman I sleep with at night? It feels fucking fantastic.

*Beauty and the Beastly Books: Tate, you have a bit of Satan in you, so how did it feel to be in Jameson’s shoes for a while?

Tate: Shitty. He pulls it off much better than I do, he can keep the title for himself.

*Beauty and the Beastly Books: Tate, if you had Jameson kids, what traits of him would you want them to have (let’s say you have a boy and a girl). *pictures a mini Jameson and a mini Tate running around* And Jameson, what about Tate’s traits, what would you choose for your kids?

Tate: EEEEEPPP!! Tiny Jamesons! Wouldn’t that be ADORABLE!? I’d want them both to have his eyes, and his strength and intelligence, his backbone.
Jameson: Oh god. I’d want … Tate makes, AND KEEPS, friends easily. She may screw up a lot, but she has good intentions, and the best heart of anyone I’ve ever met. I’d want them to have all of that.

*Beauty and the Beastly Books: Jameson, do you even want kids? And what names would you choose for boy and girl? *maybe Carol in homage to that greatest one-night stand you had after that interview* Oops, did I say that out loud?

Jameson: Someday, maybe, it would be nice to have kids. In the far, far, distant future. Someone to carry on my name, our legacy. And why does it have to be just one night? I’m in town for the rest of the week.

*faints for a minute and blushes*

*Beauty and the Beastly Books:  Now the big question…Jameson, when is the wedding? Will I be invited to the cerimony? Or maybe the bachelor party? *looks hopefully at Jameson*

Jameson: Don’t say the “W” word around Tate, I think she’s “nesting”, or something. I’ve heard a rumor there’s some sort of tell all book about us coming out soon, maybe it’ll say. And I am completely fine with you hosting a bachelor party for me, wedding or no.

*makes a mental list of things to do and to remember to clean the house* Ooops, again, I better get back to this interview

Beauty and the Beastly Books: Now, sorry for putting you on the spotlight there, Jameson…I have a tradition here on my blog that everytime I do a interview with awesome characters, I mean, people, like you two, I do a quickfire back and forth Q&A with them…Ready? *looks down at Jameson and see that he is indeed ready*

*Beauty and the Beastly Books: Daytime or Nighttime?

Jameson: Anytime.
Tate: Anytime.

*Beauty and the Beastly Books: Favorite position

Tate: Missionary
Jameson: Her bent over whatever object is nearest

Who said I was talking about sex???

*Beauty and the Beastly Books: Lights on or Lights off?

Tate: On
Jameson: On

*Beauty and the Beastly Books: Favorite color?

Tate: Gold
Jameson: Black

*Beauty and the Beastly Books: Favorite book?

Jameson: Divina Commedia by Dante Alighieri

(I love that book too!! *jumps up and down excitedly*)

Tate: *cough*poser*cough* The Five People You Meet in Heaven by Mitch Alborn

*Beauty and the Beastly Books: Wine or Beer?

Tate: Beer
Jameson: Wine

*Beauty and the Beastly Books:  Casual or Chic?

Tate: Casual
Jameson: Chic

*Beauty and the Beastly Books: Favorite Food?

Tate: Chinese
Jameson: French

*Beauty and the Beastly Books:Food or Sex?

Jameson: Sex

*Beauty and the Beastly Books: Favorite song? Maybe the wedding song? I’m just kidding, Jameson, don’t need to look at me like that!

Jameson: I am only controlling my temper because you’re good looking. Favorite song is the third movement in Beethoven’s Moonlight Sonata.

(OHHHHH HE SAID I’M PRETTY!! *writes in her diary “This is the best day ever!! Jameson said I’m pretty!!” then looks back to them embarrassed*)

Tate: Hmmmm …. ug, right now, I’d say it’s Taylor Swift “Shake It Off”, but it changes.

*Beauty and the Beastly Books: Pepsi or Coke?

Tate: Coke
Jameson: Neither

*Beauty and the Beastly Books: Cats or dogs?

Tate: Dogs
Jameson: Cats

(Of course, Satan would be a cat person!!)

*Beauty and the Beastly Books:  Cuddling or Round 2? If there’s even anything like cuddling when it comes to Jameson.

Jameson: There’s being in the ring, or passed the fuck out, I don’t know this “cuddling” you speak of.

Tate: And people wonder why I sneak into Sandy’s room to cuddle

*Beauty and the Beastly Books: Bed or Sofa?

Jameson: whichever is closest
Tate: Bed

*Beauty and the Beastly Books: Underwear or Commando?

Tate: Underwear
Jameson: Commando

*Beauty and the Beastly Books:  Prince Charming or Satan?

Tate: Both rolled into one
Jameson: Is this a real question?

*Beauty and the Beastly Books Fast or Slow? ( Take your minds out of the gutter, it could be anything!)

Jameson: I like everything fast. Women, cars, money, sex.
Tate: Yeah, I’d have to agree with him on that.

*Beauty and the Beastly Books: And finally, Boxers or Briefs? (*hopes Jameson would show her and Tate won’t kill her*)

Jameson: depends on the clothing. Suits, I wear briefs. Jeans, I wear boxers. At home, nothing. If you’d just get my buckle, I can show -,
Tate: This would be much easier if we weren’t in an interview room. Just sayin’ ….

(Well, we can go to my apartment, it’s quite close actually…DID I SAY THAT OUT LOUD AGAIN???)

Thank you so much for coming (I sure did  seeing Jameson so close! *looks at Tate, did I say that out loud again?* Jesus, did anyone spill something on my drink?! ) I had the best time! I hope you come back soon and bring Sandy! *slips Jameson her number*

Jameson: I’m changing one of my answers.
Tate: The interview is over, Jameson, you can’t just decide –
Jameson: Tate’s worst quality is that she’s too hard on herself, and takes what people say to heart too easily, particularly things that aren’t even true.
Her best quality is that when she loves someone, she loves everything about them, even their faults. Even if they’re the devil.
Tate: Oh my god, Jameson, that was really sweet. Why can’t you be like that all the time!? Why couldn’t you have just -,
Jameson: Tatum.
Tate: What?
Jameson: Shut the fuck up. The interview is over.

(I guess he won’t be needing that number…*hears the sound of every panties in the room dropping and some suspicious make out sounds*)

“You brought Angier to my house, let him wear my clothing, and then you proceeded to get high,” Jameson laid everything out. Tate glanced at him and nodded before going back to her nails. She couldn’t look at him for too long. His eyes were blazing, and it was always a look that set her skin on edge. Made her itch to be touched. Hurt.

“Yeah, in the sun room,” she finished.

“You smoked in my room,” his voice was soft. She had trouble hiding her smile.

“Well, not in in your room, we were -,” she started.

He grabbed her by the throat and she went onto her toes, her fingers flying to his hand. He stared down his nose at her, and he looked equal parts pissed-the-fuck-off and really turned on. It was an odd look, one that she had only ever seen on Jameson. A look that made her heart rate double.

“What’s your game, baby girl? You knew all those things would make me very unhappy, so why did you do them?” he asked, his voice still soft. She sighed.

“We were having fun. Maybe, just maybe for ten minutes, I wasn’t thinking about you, Jameson,” she replied. His fingers got tighter and he walked her backwards, out of the closet.

“Doubtful. Fun, huh. What else did you do?” he asked, backing her up to the side of the bed.

“Hard to remember. Gets a little fuzzy after the joint,” she replied. He stepped up so he was almost touching her.

“A little fuzzy, hmmm. Tatum, you’re being far too obvious to have actually slept with him, so you can stop trying to make me jealous. I’m not jealous. I’m angry,” Jameson growled through clenched teeth. She flicked her eyes to the bed, then back to him.

“You’re so sure? You’re positive?” she whispered. His gaze went to where she had just looked and then came back to hers. He cocked his head to the side.

“Positive enough. Why are you trying to make me mad? What has gotten into you?” he asked, and she managed to squeak out a laugh.

“I think the question should be who.

Blog Tour Stop: The King – Review + Q&A with Tiffany Reisz

The King Banner

Hey everyone!!

This is the book tour I was most expecting lately! It’s no secret my love for The Original Sinners series by Tiffany Reisz. They take me way beyond my comfort zone and I love that!

The King Cover UK

Cunning. Sex. Pure nerve. Only this potent threesome can raise him to his rightful place as ruler of Manhattan’s kink kingdom.

Bouncing from bed to bed on the Upper East Side—handsomely paid in both bills and blackmail fodder—Kingsley Edge is brilliant, beautiful and utterly debauched. No carnal act or chemical compound can relieve his self-destructive apathy—only Søren, the one person he loves without limit or regret. A man he can never have, but in whose hands Kingsley is reborn to attain even greater heights of sin. He plans to open the ultimate BDSM club: a dungeon playground for New York’s A-list that’ll change the scene forever.

RATING: 5 Søren stars

5 stars5 stars5 stars5 stars5 stars

Warning: The King is book 2 in the White Years books, but it’s The Original Sinners book 6. If you haven’t read the previous 5 books in the series, please do, because this post might contain spoilers for the story (although it doesn’t have spoilers for The King). Also, the parts in yellow in my review are quotes from The King.

Tiffany Reisz, you have completely ruined me! How am I supposed to live normally again after  your Original Sinners series? If I ever meet Tiffany I’ll have to kiss the ground she steps in (this is a Brazilian saying, I don’t know if you have it in English lol).

In each new book, Tiffany not only surprises me, but she blows me away in a complete way and every installment in this series adds even more the Sinners’ story, specially Nora, Søren and Kingsley’s story. I love knowing their past.

The Saint was absolutely perfect, but The King isn’t behind it. How Tiffany manages to fit the past so perfectly in the story we already know in the present/future is amazing to me! I will never ever doubt Tiffany again! I should have learned my lesson with the Saint!

The King, just like The Saint, starts in the present/future and it’s a story of the past, but this time told by Kinglsey. The story of how he became the king of the Underground Kinky Manhattan. How the 8th Circle began and how he became Kinglsey Edge.

When I read The Siren and when I started the Angel I didn’t like Kingsley that much, because I thought he was, in my first opinion, a jealous little bitch (sorry, Tiffany!). But then, the Angel happened and then The Prince and I started to like Kingsley a lot better. And then The Saint came and he charmed me, made me laugh and I loved his interactions with both Nora and Søren.

And now we have The King, which is a Kingsley Edge extravaganza! And I LOVED every part of it! Kingsley is funny, deep, intense and sexy as hell! But I admit I was jealous of Kingsley on Nora’s behalf (I never learn, because Nora isn’t jealous at all of Søren, she has all the certanty of his love for her and she is the most open-minded female character I know) and, because of the teasers I saw before reading the book, I was afraid. But now after this book there isn’t an ounce of jealousy in my body for any of the characters! Tiffany has done beautifully again and I’m finally getting some answers and more insight to that event…Yeap, that one that shall not be mentioned to some of you (some of my friends still can’t stand the fact that Fionn actually happened)!

We have more insight about Søren, Kingsley and even Nora. But surprisingly we get more insight in what’s been going on in Grace and Fionn’s lives as well. Differently from what I originally thought, this book doesn’t have any Nora direct interactions, and I was surprised to learn that when we see Kingsley in The Saint, despite their familiarity, it was only months after him and Søren had reconnected after Marie-Laure’s supposed death.

“I would play Ravel for you,” Søren said, his voice stiff and formal. “If that’s what it took.”

Kingsley’s eyes flew open.

“I’m not going to make you fuck me just so I’ll help your Virgin Queen. That’s her game, not mine.”

Kingsley and Søren were hilarious and although there was hardly any interactions with Nora I didn’t really miss her!! She was there all the time even when she wasn’t. We can see Søren really was in love with her and I can’t wait to see what comes next into their past!

“You…” Kingsley said. “You’re in love with her.”

Søren didn’t deny it. Kingsley respected him for that.

Honest was its own special brand of sadism.

“I am.”

Even though Kingsley is still much jealous of Nora (and I actually didn’t see his jealousy in The Saint, and he met her for real there. In The King, things happened a bit before it, so he must have been quite jealous during The Saint as well), he can’t help being intrigued by her. After all he dreamed, along with Søren, of having a girl exactly like her for them.

“Don’t hate her. You’ll want to hate her, and both know why. But try to keep your heart open.”

I want to see her reaction when she discovers Søren has slept with Kingsley and their first night together and, although it will break my heart, I really want to see what happens when (and how) she leaves Søren and goes to her mom’s. And then how she becomes The Mistress Nora we know. I think the leaving will take place in The Virgin, but the actual Mistress Nora will happen in The Queen and I’m waiting anxiously for them!

“I should meet our little princess,” Kingsley said.

“Not a princess, a queen.”

Oh, one of my favorite scenes is when Kingsley’s famous “Have you ever had sex in the back of a limo?” was born! It was HAWT! And it may have involved a sadist we know and love!

When Søren and Kingsley were teenagers, Søren was quite wild, not that he is ever tamed, but he has learned to control his impulses better and it’s like he needed King to happen in this life, so he could learn better and later train Nora. It all fits so perfect, you might think Tiffany wrote all this novels together, like in the same time.

“What’s so special about this girl you’re willing to commit felonies on her behalf?”

“Truth,” Kingsley said.

“She reminds me of you.”

“That’s why you love her?” Kingsley asked hoping the answer was “yes”but knowing it wasn’t.

“That’s why I’m trying to help her.”

We can see here a very uncommon insecure side of Kingsley. Not only that, but we can see that Søren actually don’t love them the same way. He loves both of them, with the same intensity, Kingsley and Nora aren’t more loved than one another, but the way Søren treats them is quite different. He was much crueler to King when they were lovers as teens than he ever was to Nora, but I get now why Tiffany told me in my  The Saint’s blog tour interview about understanding why he treated Kingsley differently but he loved both of them with the same intensity.

And Kingsley recognizes Nora the moment he sees her. He recognizes his equal.

There was no way, none, not a chance in heaven, hell or the purgatory they were living in right now that girl was a submissive. Søren had fallen in love with a baby domme who had a sadistic streak in her as wide as her smile. This girl would have men at her feet all her life by her will or theirs and whether they liked it or not.

“You’re going to regret you ever met that girl. She’s a tiger in a kitten’s body.”

Søren smiled enigmatically. “I always liked cats.”

Kingsley only laughted. Time would tell what sort of beast Søren’s little kitten would grow intol. Whatever she turned into, Kingsley could already feel her claws in him.

I also loved how Søren really wants to be Kingsley’s friend. We can see he loves Kingsley beyond the physical aspect, specially because he isn’t, as he once said to King, into men. Just him. This new friendship based relationship was a great lesson for Kingsley, because I think he loved Søren, but so much of that love was attached to the physical part and the sex. It’s a bit like what Søren thought Nora in The Saint as well.

“I promise you this,” Søren whispered, “I will never turn my back on you. I will never leave you. I will never forsake you. As long as it’s in my power, I will be your friend, and I will be here for you whenever you need me.”

“I treasure the memory of what we had. And I pray we can have somehting even better, deeper now.”

“Friendship. A real friendship.”

And we get to see how Kingsley actually pays this debt he has with Søren, and it was a great gesture on his part.

The King introduces us to a new character as well, Sam. The girl that works for Kingsley and who is a lesbian, and apparently imune to his charms. I say apparently because who really is imune to Kingsley? We all love Søren and his brooding intensity, but if I speak for myself that if I ever met Kingsley Edge on the streets, I’d jump him right there! Great looks and that sense of humor? Perfect match. I agree with Søren, Nora is very similar to King. We can see how similar when they are joking, they have the same sense of humor and that is something that Søren needs. Don’t get me wrong, Blondie has his own sadist sense of humor (that I greatly appreciate), but he broods too much.

“He invented brooding. He holds the patent on brooding. He gets royalties whenever anyone broods. You just haven’t seen him do it yet.”

If you ask me what is my favorite part of this book, I’ll have to say it was King and Sam’s interactions. I really like Sam and I can totally see her being friends with Nora as well. I also LOVED the limo scene (if you’ve read the book already, you know what I’m talking about) and the sleepover one! But I really loved how this book wasn’t solelly a King and Søren book, it had an actual story. It’s set in the past, but it goes in two different pasts sometimes, their teen years, and the years when they reconnected, Søren met Nora and the 8th Circle was created. The story of how the 8th Circle was born is filled with tension and some action and Sam is a crucial piece in it! She is another of the amazing characters Tiffany creates that we can’t help but love.

In The King we can understand a bit more about Søren’s sadism than in The Saint. At least for me it was like that. We know he is a sadist, he gets aroused by inflicting pain, but now we know how he learned to be the sadist he is in the present/future. How he learned to controll it.

“That boy was a king, which is why I took so much pleasure in making him kneel. […] There’s no honor in breaking someone already broken. There’s n o fun in it, either.”

And I also love how we can see Tiffany’s very own sense of humor through her characters.

Here she is being funny, because the new Pope is actually a Jesuit (I wen to school in a Jesuit school actually, like Søren and Kingsley, so I can understand not only the references, but Søren’s relationship with his faith and the Church. As  with Tiffany, Theology fascinates me):

“A Jesuit pope? It’ll never happen.”

In here, we can see a different side of Tiffany’s sense of humor. I loved how she incorporated

“Among many other things, she told me I would have a son someday. […]”

“She said it would happen by the grace of God. Whatever that means.”

Very well played, Tiffany. I laughed at that and now I can understand why Søren laughed in the end of The Mistress when he is talking with Zach on the phone.

Here is one of the”funny Kingsley quotes”:

“My mother was a saint,” Kingsley said. “I’m the only bitch in the family.”

Tiffany has forever changed the way I see love and I catch myself sometimes thinking about them in random times, like when I’m on the bus. There’s just so much to think about him and Nora and Kingsley.

“Twenty years,” Kingsley said again. “All that time, Søren’s been the constant. Him and her.”

I can’t even imagine loving a person like they love each other. With no barries, just complety, unaltered love. That level of love is only able because of the level of trust they have in each other. And they understand each other, they don’t want to change the other. They know exactly who they are loving. That is such a privilegde to know, even if it’s only in fiction. Knowing a love like this is amazing, eye-opening and just amazing.

The founder of the Jesuits, Saint Ignacius de Loyola, have a saying, that is one of the mottoes of my old school, that goes like this “Love is the sharing of being and having”, and I belive that saying can define very well the way Søren loves Nora and Kingsley and they all love each other. It’s fullfiling and complete and a wonderful thing to see and read about!

No matter how deep I go to understand them, I can still go deeper and deeper and I absolutely love that! No other story has ever touched me like theirs. I’ve read some amazing, spectacular books. I’ve read almost 2000 books in my life and I have quite a few number of favorites, each of them different in their own way, but touching me like The Original Sinners is something very, very rare. So I thank you Tiffany, for ruining me. I can’t imagine living in a word that doesn’t have YOUR words for me to think about!

Beauty in the Beastly Books: I know that just like mothers with children, authors aren’t supposed to have a favorite character, but which Sinner do you enjoy most writing about and why?

Tiffany Reisz: Oh, I play favorites, I promise. I adore Søren. I can’t stand writing Wesley. So glad I don’t have to write Wes anymore. I love my big three, the UnHoly Trinity of Søren, Nora, and Kingsley. Anytime they’re in a scene together, it’s a blast to write.

(We can see, because everytime they’re in a scene together I smile like an idiot! It’s a blast to read too!)

Beauty in the Beastly Books: What traits of yours do your Sinners inherit?

Tiffany Reisz: Nora has my sense of humor. Kingsley has my cynicism. Søren has my theological bent and my sadism. He and I both love messing with people’s heads.

Beauty in the Beastly Books: After the last White Years book (The Queen), do you plan to write more about Nora, Søren, King and the other Sinners?

Tiffany Reisz: At least once a year I’ll write the Original Sinners Christmas story. I’m working on that now. This is the 4th year I’ve written a Christmas story. And we’ll see what happens next. There might be novellas or a spin-off series. Stay tuned!

Beauty in the Beastly Books: I can honestly say this story is the most complex and eye-opening I’ve ever read! I’m an avid reader, with almost 2000 read books on my list and the Original Sinners are my all time favorite books! I love discussing them, and sometimes I go so deep analyzing some parts and characters that I think I might be getting way out of line with them. Did you ever know from the beginning the way things were going to go or did you change the direction of the story at some point? Like, have all that happened at The Mistress, for example, been planned to happen that way?

Tiffany Reisz: Thank you! I’m so happy to be among your favorite authors. I had ideas from the beginning but they morphed and changed as the series progressed. For example, after writing THE SIREN, I thought it would be fun to have Nora kidnapped or something and then Søren and Wes would have to work together to get her back. At the time I just thought maybe she’d be kidnapped by the IRA or some other organization and she’d have to charm her way out of the mess. But then a file thief showed up in THE ANGEL and someone I thought was dead turned out to be still alive in THE PRINCE and the kidnapper in THE MISTRESS wasn’t a stranger or a terrorist but someone very intimately connected to the Original Sinners.

Beauty in the Beastly Books: Writing a complex story like this must be already difficult, then going back and writing how it all began must be twice as difficult. When I finished the Red Years books (the last three in one day) and sent you an email (I’m still embarrassed by that lol), you told me all would make sense in the new books about the past. I have to admit I was skeptical, after all how could a book about their past shed light into all my doubts about their future? And I gotta say, as usual, you nailed it!! For me, it’s been thrilling to see how the characters met and became what they are today. So, what stories did you come up with first, the “original” present ones or the prequel ones? And which ones was the most “difficult” and satisfying to write?

Tiffany Reisz: I told you so! THE SIREN was obviously the first story I came up with. But after that I really wanted to write the book that would be THE SAINT, the story of how Nora and Søren met and fell in love when she was 15 and he a 29 year-old baby Jesuit priest. But the story that really got to me was Michael’s so he became the main focus of THE ANGEL. I wanted the PAST sections in THE PRINCE to be an entire book but my editor wasn’t too keen on that so it became part of THE PRINCE, not the entirety of it. THE PRINCE was supposed to be just Nora and Wes’s story in Kentucky but Kingsley stole the show as he is wont to do. They’ve all been hugely satisfying to write. I’m thrilled that my dream to be able to write all eight books is coming true. Only one book left to write, book eight, THE QUEEN, and that’s that!

Thank you so, so much, Tiffany for answering my questions and as usual your answers were so insightful and wonderful!!!

Blog Tour Stop and Author Interview: Summer of Seventeen by Jane Harvey-Berrick

It’s no secret I’m one of Jane’s biggest fans, I absolutely love the way she has with words. She turns what we thougth were simple words into poetry, almost word porn for me LOL
I’m always happy to be a part of her blog tours and reveals and releases! This time I unfortunately couldn’t write a review, between classes and tests and blogging, I miscalculated my time and when I saw it was my day to post and I haven’t written it yet…But to make it up for you I had an AWESOME interview with her! She was generous as usual to answer my questions, so I hope you’ll liket it!
It was supposed to be the endless summer of sand, sea, and surf.
Supposed to be.
But Nick Andrews life is crashing out of control. His girlfriend and his best friend have declared war, his sister’s constant interference in his life is driving him insane, and there are money problems that won’t go away.
Being seventeen isn’t supposed to be this hard.
When cool surfer Marcus arrives in town, Nick sees that there are easier ways to live. But with his life falling to pieces around him, it’s hard to know who to trust.
As the scorching heat of summer grows, events begin to unravel, reaching a shattering conclusion—and a summer he’ll never forget.

“You have a great ass,” she whispered.

“Oh, yeah!”

“It’s all yours,” I challenged her. “You only gotta ask.”

“Maybe I won’t ask; maybe I’ll just grab a hold,” she laughed.

“Fine by me.”

As the trees thinned out, I could see people already laying out beach towels, and a couple of guys throwing a football. Some of them I knew, but there were several I didn’t. I thought maybe they went to Viera or Rockledge schools.

Yansi laid out two towels for us while Megan took charge of the food and Esther was eye-fucking one of the guys playing football.

I tugged off my t-shirt and plopped down next to Yansi. She was wearing some real short cut-off jeans that showed her butt cheeks, and a tank top that was cropped above her belly button. She looked incredible.

“How come you were allowed to leave the house like that?” I teased.

She smirked at me and pointed to her sweater.

“I tied this around my waist. Papi couldn’t tell the difference.”

“And your mom?”

Yansi laughed. “She just shook her head and said to tell you hi.”

Today I have the honor of interviewing Jane Harvey-Berrick. Let’s welcome her to Beauty in the Beastly Books!
Beauty in the Beastly Books: Hey Jane, how are you today?
Jane Harvey-Berrick: Pretty good, thanks! Just got back from walking my little dog on the beach. And writing, of course!

Beauty in the Beastly Books: First let me congratulate you, once again, for going all Brazilian! I can’t wait to show Seb and Caro to all my Brazilian friends!!

Jane Harvey-Berrick: Thank you! It’s so exciting! And the Brazilian readers have been so encouraging and friendly. I can’t wait to see what the Brazilian covers look like. But you’ll have to tell me what the translation is like – I’m sure Novo Século will do an amazing job.

I sure can’t wait to see how the translation will be!!!

Beauty in the Beastly Books: I know you wrote FSOG fanfiction (I LOVE them!)

Jane Harvey-Berrick: Yep! The stories are still on under the name ‘sunandsuf’. They’ve been translated into Spanish, but not Portuguese – yet LOL!

(I might just try to translate them, so, I will never look at Taylor the same way after reading your fics!)

Beauty in the Beastly Books: So, who is (or are) your inspiration when it comes to writing? What authors inspired you to start writing?

Jane Harvey-Berrick: I’ve always wanted to write. I used to think I wanted to be a journalist, but I prefer making things up. Perhaps I should have been a tabloid journalist!

Lots of things inspire me, not just other books or authors. People, the world around me, these things influence the books I write.

For me, Jane Austen wrote the perfect book – ‘Persuasion’. I know she didn’t even get to polish it before she died, so I’m sure she’d have made changes. But it’s about love second time around, when you’re older and wiser. It’s about the limited options for women, and about how the world changes you. It’s about the expectations of your friends and family, and the way the world judges you. It’s about making your own decisions and accepting the consequences of those decisions. It’s about love.

OMG! Persuasion is my favorite ever Jane Austen book!! The story is so actual, it could be about characters in our modern world! I absolutely love it! Not to mention it’s a second-chance romance!!!

Beauty in the Beastly Books: First of all, how is your writing process? Do you write down everything and anything that comes to your mind or do you wait for the ideas to sit in?

Jane Harvey-Berrick: Some stories start with a single idea; some start with a scene; some start with a character; some start with a title.

I wrote a play about a man who’d been in the arBemy and been damaged by the things he saw. I had this idea of someone looking in a mirror and spitting at his reflection because he hated the person that he saw. The idea didn’t make it into the play, but I did use it in the book ‘At Your Beck & Call’ about a male escort.

Beauty in the Beastly Books: Do you always have a clear idea of the whole story, how it will unfold or does it, and the characters, ever surprise you along the way?

Jane Harvey-Berrick: Characters are usually pretty clear from the beginning. Occasionally they change, but I usually have a clear idea of how they’ll behave and the direction of the story. Sometimes the things they say surprise me, and then I wonder, where on earth did that come from?

Beauty in the Beastly Books: Is there one of your characters that is a favorite? I gotta tell you, for me it’s pretty hard to choose between Seb, Daniel and Jordan!

Jane Harvey-Berrick: No! You can’t ask me that! It would be like asking me to pick my favourite child! Nope, sorry! Can’t do it.

Sorry! Sorry! As a reader I can’t choose between my favorites (Seb, Daniel and Jordan), imagine you as their book mom!!! 😉

Beauty in the Beastly Books: Which of your stories do you like best? And why?

Jane Harvey-Berrick: Same answer. I fall in love with my characters when I write them. Finishing a book is a mini bereavement and I go into a slight depression until I start writing the next one.

I can only imagine! I hate to see the stories ending and knowing I will have to let go of them, even though they remain with me for so long!!!

Beauty in the Beastly Books: Even though I really like your male POVs (and I usually don’t like those), will you ever write a book based on woman POV alone again like TEOS and TEOC?

Jane Harvey-Berrick: Thank you. One of the best compliments I had was from a male reader. He said something like most books written by women that had male POV didn’t sound right to him. But in my books, they did. I loved that!

Oh, definitely! I’ve got a two book series that I’ve planned for next year that will be female POV. I didn’t set out to deliberately write several male POV books one after the other, it’s just the way it turned out – or rather the stories that came to me.

Beauty in the Beastly Books: Which of your books would you most like to see as a movie?

Jane Harvey-Berrick: I think ‘Dangerous to Know & Love’ would make a great film. Definitely. I’ve even written a filmscript for that one, but so far Steven Spielberg isn’t returning my calls LOL.

I was hoping you would say that!!! Even though I think TEOS and TEOC could be an epic, Oscar-worthy, movie, Dangerous to Know and Love is such a great story! It’s beautiful and deep and I would love to see my Daniel on the screens!!!

Beauty in the Beastly Books: How did you meet her hubby? Is he blond and surf type?

Jane Harvey-Berrick: Ha, no! Not at all. We were both working for a children’s charity. He was walking down the stairs and I was walking up. He looked really fed up so I said something like, “It can’t be that bad! There must be something to smile about!” And then he smiled at me. That was it.

OK, I LOVE that! You NEED to use this in a story!!!!!

Beauty in the Beastly Books: Is he anything like the new book book? Does he ride a motorcycle or went to jail?

Jane Harvey-Berrick: He used to have a motorbike, but not now. He loves old sports cars.

Beauty in the Beastly Books: Where does the inspiration for your male characters come from?

Jane Harvey-Berrick: Everywhere. Nowhere. The world around me. My imagination.

Beauty in the Beastly Books:I gotta tell you, I love how easy to relate your characters are. That is one of my favorite things about your books!

Jane Harvey-Berrick: Thank you. I don’t want people to have to suspend disbelief when they read my stories. I don’t want them to think, ‘People never behave like that!’ I try to root everything in the real world.

I couldn’t agree more!!! I’ve been seeing so many “unreal” stories lately. Yes, it is fiction, but for me, even fiction needs to be relateable…

You can create your own world in books, but it has to be consistent. I mean, I love paranormal. ‘Buffy’ is one of my all-time favourite programmes, but the way people behaved was ‘real’ within that world: human nature was still real.

Beauty in the Beastly Books: That and the way you turn words into living poetry, it’s simply amazing and I’m always highlightning quotes from your books!

Jane Harvey-Berrick: That’s really good to hear. I love playing with words, the way they sound. It’s important to me that the writing pleases me if I read it aloud.

Beauty in the Beastly Books: Do you have a favorite quote?

Jane Harvey-Berrick: Yes. Sebastian’s letter to Caro.

I love you, I have always loved you, and wherever I go after this world, I will always love you. Sempre e per sempre.”

I LOVE that quote! I translated it to Portuguese and, even though Iusually  like the originals better than the translations, it sounded amazingly beautiful in my own language too!! Plus, in Portuguese the word “forever” (sempre in Italian) is actually “para sempre”.

Beauty in the Beastly Books: Now, I’d like to do a quickfire Q&A with you!

Favorite book? Persuasion, Jane Austin

Coke or pepsi? Neither. Tea or water!

Cats or dogs?  Dogs

Favorite movie? Point Break, the Keanu Reeves film. Changed my life!

Favorite color? Turquoise.

If you could travel anywhere tomorrow, where would you go? I’m going to Berlin tomorrow! I’d love to go to Japan.

If you could live anywhere, where would it be? Right here where I live now. I can hear the ocean at night.

Black or White? Black.

Light or Dark? Light.

And now…Baby Seb or Chief Hunter? Oooh! Young Seb in the morning, and Chief Hunter the rest of the day 😉

I know my friend (and book twin) Audrey will love that one!!

Again, Jane, THANK YOU so much for this interview Jane! It means a lot to me and i just love interacting with authors such as you!

Jane Harvey-Berrick: Thank you! Great questions – really made me thing.

Congratulations on the New release of Summer of Seventeen and I can’t wait for more of your books!!!

Jane Harvey-Berrick: Thanks, Carol. You’re a honey! Yep, more e-books coming to a screen near you soon!

teasersSome of this teasers were made by some awesome friends of mine! Just like the Book Trailer!!

I started writing contemporary romance two years ago. Before that, I didn’t think I could write a sex scene. Turns out I can!My lucky number is 13 because I was born on the 13th and live near a haunted castle by the ocean. My number one past-time is watching hot surfers get changed into (and out of) their wetsuits.

My husband doesn’t read my books. My mother does.

Writing is my love, my hobby, my total addiction. All my characters are important to me and whisper their stories, even when I’ve finished writing their books. That’s why you’ll often find bonus chapters/out-takes from various books, because those voices just won’t be quiet.

Blog Tour Stop: Escaping Destiny (The Fae Chronicles #3) by Amelia Hutchins

Hi everyone!!

It’s so good to be finally back! Today I’m a stop for one of my favorite books’ Blog Tour!! The Fae Chronicles is one of my all time favorite series ever!!

If you’d like, you can check my review (with character interview) of the first book – Fighting Destiny and also second character interview for Halloween.

Title: Escaping Destiny ( The Fae Chronicles #3)
Author: Amelia Hutchins
Genre: Paranormal Romance
Publication: February 17, 2014

Rating: 5+++ stars

Book Synopsis:

I thought things couldn’t get worse. I was wrong.

I found out what I really wanted and was forced to give him up. Just as I found out who I really am, I was presented to the elusive Horde King as a gift.

This was the mystical being I was hidden from for more than twenty years.

Although Ryder promised to save me, I couldn’t let him get near this creature, so I willingly (sort of) signed myself over to be his new plaything.

Now in the Horde Realm, nothing is going remotely like I thought it would.

My powers and emotions are on the fritz, and each day seems to bring surprises that I am not sure how to deal with.

The Horde King thinks he has me exactly where he wants me.

He thinks he has taken all of my options away.

I still have choices.

Embracing what destiny has planned for me, or escaping it.

My Review:

Well, there’s no surprise that I absolutely LOVED the third book in the Fae Chronicle Series!

Amelia’s mind must be such an interesting place to live! Her ability to tell a story and make you feel like you’re inside of it and are friends with the characters is just amazing!

Escaping Destiny takes off right where Tauting Destiny left us! Syn is about to be taken to the Horde Kingdom and the mystery behind the Hoard King is finally solved! I was so glad my theory was right!!!

But the biggest shock was not about who was and what happened to the Horde King. Oh no, prepare yourselves for some shocking news!!! I was speechless!! But I love all of the surprises! Well, almost all of them LOL

Ryder and Syn’s chemistry is as sizzling as usual, or even more! Their banter is just as fun and the fights lead to epic make up time!

Even though I love Ryder to death, he was an ass to Syn through a lot of parts of the book! There were times that I loved his Beast better than him! Without the whole Fae Shenanigans to deal with, the Beast certainly can have a more clear vision of what he really wants! But I do understand his side and he more than  make up for it!!!

I loved to see all the characters again in Faery, their interaction, the guard, and…Ristan!! I love the Demon so much!!If Ryder wasn’t in the picture he’d be perfect for Synthia, but well no one’s better for Syn than Ryder!

This book is packed with Fae politics and action…Ryder learns how to woo Syn (yes, even Royal Badass Fae needs to woo sometimes 😉 ) and Syn needs to learn to accommodate her human life into her new Fae life. The fact that she’s been raised human is what makes her Syn and also what makes her the perfect match for Ryder. He needs her human side.

It’s certainly difficult for Synthia to understand how Fae’s politics goes, and even more difficult since Ryder is so busy being immersed in it. But then the reason why he does it is to protect her. Both Ryder and Syn can be unreasonable sometimes, but I also give both of them reason most of the time. Ryder made me cry sometimes, I admit but then we get glimpses of how he thinks and why he does what he does and you just cry again from being much more in love with him!

I blame Amelia Hutchins for turning me into a hopeless lovestruck girl for her characters! This book has the right dosage of funny and snark and action and love and…well…HOTNESS!

Holy Hotness! I want to be a F***ing Fairy Happy Meal if I’d be treated like Syn is! Amelia certainly can make us fan ourselves while reading her books!!

I can’t tell you what my favorite part of the book was, because there isn’t just one! The whole book is a surprise after surprise and it’s packed with what I love most: a hotter than sin male hero, a badass heroine (I want to be Syn when I grow up!!!), a funny and sarcastic Demon, some hot guards, a sweet Fae named Adam (I like him so much more now!!!) and action!!

I can’t wait for the next book in the series, it will bring so much more into the story! I hope Syn continues with her badass backbone, Ryder needs it. And I hope Ryder pulls his head out of his a*** and just say he loves her forever!! We are all waiting for it! I also can’t wait to know how things will turn out! This book doesn’t end in a cliffy, but it will make you want more like RIGHT NOW!!

I can’t wait to see what Danu is up to!! She is certainly full of surprises (anyone else felt a little something between her and Ristan????)

Thank you once again Amelia Hutchins, for making my day with one more amazing story! When she released the book a few days early I didn’t even wait for my ARC copy, I just bought the book as soon as it was live on Amazon and I just couldn’t stop reading it!

Amelia Hutchins releasing a book is guaranteed I will have a 5++++ reading! I am so glad I didn’t turn down the offer to be part of Amelia’s first blog tour all those months ago…To think I almost did!! I would have missed these AMAZING characters in my life and this amazing story! The story just keeps getting better and better and there’s just so many layers to it, that I can’t even dare to imagine how it will end! I don’t want it to ever end!!!

“Woo her,” Ristan continues.

“I don’t woo.”

“Woo,” he repeats.

“I’m not the kind of man to woo anyone. I can make her scream my name to the rafters, isn’t that enough wooing?”

“Woo,” Ristan smirks, which only serves to irritate me more.

“Woo,” I grind out on an exhale.

“Yes, woo,” he says, already turning to walk away. I watch his shoulders quake with laughter.

“Woo,” I growl.

“Woo!” He says over his shaking shoulders.

“Fuck me,” I shake my head.

“No thanks, not my type…now go woo your princess.”

“Now you admit it?” He continued to play. I liked this lighter side of him, even if he did want to bubble wrap me, and lock me in a panic-room until I gave birth.

“No, I’m not a Fairy. I’m Fae, and even though I suck at being one, I’m here. My old life is gone, you knocked me up. So yes, Ryder, I admit that I’m Fae, and I’ll even admit to being Blood Fae, and hell, while I’m at it, I’ll admit I like you. Now you, you’re still a Fairy,” I said, smiling impishly.

“You like me,” he said, shaking his head. “You like me.”

“Yes, it could be the hormones, but you are kinda cute…for a Fairy.”

“For a Fairy?”

“You should really get this hallway checked out, seems to have an echo in it.” I smiled even wider.

“I guess I could admit a few things,” he replied in a sexy voice that was filled with heat.

“Such as?” Yes, I was curious to know what he felt, since he never said anything apart from wanting me. Shit, we were having twins! And, I had no idea where we stood on this.

“You’ve got a great ass,” he said, never taking his eyes from mine as we walked, oblivious to anyone watching us. “Your screams when I fuck you? I like that shit, too. The noises you make when I drive my cock balls deep and you ask for more? Fuck, I seriously like it…a lot.”

Okay, maybe I fell right in to that one. “Flattery will get you nowhere,” I continued to tease him.

“I love the way that your eyes glaze over with heat, and your bottom lip quivers when you scream my name. I love the way you come on my cock,” he continued playing.

I swallowed and shivered involuntarily. Freaking Fairy had game! And he was using it all on me, and I was allowing it. “I like the way you fall over when I kick your ass.”

“You’ve never kicked my ass,” he replied easily.

“Never say never, Fairy,” I said before I turned and kicked out with one foot, while I planted my hands against his chest and shoved him. I stayed long enough to catch the look of shock on his face, before I turned and ran as fast as my legs would carry me down the long hallway. I squealed with laughter from the look on his face as I ran forward.

I’m not sure what I had expected, but c’mon, he was Fae. He sifted in front of me, which I hadn’t seen coming until it was too late. I ended up colliding full-force with his much larger frame. Hitting Ryder at a full sprint was like hitting a brick wall. I screamed as I started to fall backward, but he caught me easily.

“Shit!” he growled with a hint of laughter in his tone.

I was quickly pulled up and pressed against the warmth of his wide chest, which I’d just a second ago face planted. “What the hell do they feed you? Cement?” I said as I relaxed against him.

“You knocked me on my ass, Pet.”

“I did, didn’t I?” I snorted, happily flashing him a haughty smile.

“I should spank that pretty ass for doing so,” he whispered heatedly as he stalked me. I was walking backward toward the door I knew to be behind me.

“You wouldn’t,” I said, already knowing that he would. He was the epitome of a male. He was strong enough to do it, easily. I was almost surprised by the heat that erupted from the mere thought of his hands on my ass.

He took one step for every three I had taken. He caught me the moment we passed through the door to his lavish bedroom. One hand snaked around to the small of my back, and lifted me up against his immense chest, the other finding my ass where he then smacked it softly, almost teasingly. I smiled and bit into my bottom lip. He continued walking toward the bed, as if my weight didn’t hinder him at all.

His eyes burned with intensity as he turned us around, and lowered himself to the bed with me still pressed against his body. I spread my legs until I was straddled on his lap. I lifted my face until our mouths were close enough for either of us to make the first move to kiss.

Neither of us did so. Instead, we sat like that for minutes, just together. Both of us were afraid to move to dispel the peace, which was so new to us. No snarky comments came easily to mind, no brutal alpha male shit either. Just us. This was the man I’d fallen in love with, even with his sheer dominance and his need to control.

Right now there was none of that between us, and it wasn’t needed. I wanted him, and even though we had many issues to work through, right now wasn’t the time to discuss it. I had a craving, and only he could give me what I needed the most.

I have the pleasure of interviewing some of the Fae Chronicles characters again! I want to thank Amelia (again) for letting them play a little of us!! (There are some spoilers in the interview, so if you haven’t read book 3 yet, you might one to read the interview after you do it…)

So please show her some love and please welcome Synthia, Ryder and Ristan once again to Sex and the Books!!

So, once again welcome to my blog guys! It’s always so much fun when you come over!! This time let’s start with you, Ristan…So, what do you feel about Syn potentially becoming your sister-in-law?

Ristan: I think Ryder would have to pull his head out of it, if not, I’m available.

(LOL I said almost the same thing on my review *grins at the Demon*)

This one is for Ryder and Syn…Did you come up with any names for the twins yet?

Synthia: Not yet, but I have some planned. Ryder doesn’t get a choice, he’d give them something we couldn’t pronounce.

(Like I said, I want to be Syn when I grow up!!)

Ryder, do you have a gender preference?

Ryder: Ristan said boy, so I’m planning for two boys.

Ristan again…Did you ever go on a date with Danu’s sister and dumped her or something for her to be that angry with you? LOL

Ristan: Not that I know of, but it could be possible.

Syn and Ryder: what of each other’s traits do you want your children to have?

Synthia: Not the growling, that’s for sure.
Ryder: If it’s a girl and a boy, I hope the girl is as tough and stubborn as her mother. It should make dating fun.

Ryder, even though I love you to death, you had your moments of being an inconsiderate ass and I know Fae politics and way of life are quite different than human’s…but would you have done anything different regarding Syn? What?

Ryder: No, if I show too much emotion for her, she becomes a pawn for my enemies to use. I keep the balance, and she’s strong enough to handle it. To put it simply, she’s Syn.

(*swoon again* See? How can you be angry at him???)

Syn, what is your dream wedding, besides having Ryder as the groom?

Synthia: Oh, I’m not sure. I’ve never actually thought of having one. I guess as long as I have the right groom, and the right polish everything else will fall in to step.

Since you mentioned polish, what is the OPI color you’re wearing today, Syn?

Synthia: Big Apple Red.

Syn, we won’t be telling, but which one of Ryder’s brothers is your favorite? What about you, Ryder?

Synthia: Ristan, he is the most humanized.

(I love Ristan too! He is just the perfect company 😉 )

Ryder: None.

Ryder, how does it feel to be the Horde King, the badass of all badasses?

Ryder: I didn’t want the job yet, but someone had to save the damsel in distress.

Synthia: Uh, I wouldn’t have been a damsel in distress had you just spit it out and told me who you were.

(Syn does kind of have a point Ryder…Please don’t shoot me the ugly eye..or growl at me – actually please do…Sorry Syn, I couldn’t control myself *glances sheepishly at Syn*)

Syn, what do you think about the Horde King’s form?

Synthia: That he’s still a freaking Fairy, only now he has wings.

Ristan, what’s up with you and Danu? I know you told you didn’t think you’ve pissed her off by dumping her sister (I don’t know where do I come up with this stuff LOL), but what about you? Do you hate or love her? Do you think she is the reason you’re so connected to Syn?

Ristan: It’s complicated.

(Yeap, curiosity just killed THIS cat LMAO)

Ryder, how do YOU feel about Danu?

Ryder: I don’t feel anything for her, as long as she leaves us alone.

Syn, would you prefer to be the first concubine (I hate that word and what it entails just as much as you do!) without the others and the harem or be the wife with the others in the harem? (Of course I know Ryder wouldn’t have anything to do with them…we all know you’d kill him…or just castrate him LOL)

Synthia: I understand now why he has the pavilion. But, I’m no concubine, I was raised as a human, and while I will make some changes for the Fairy, he will also need to make some for me.

(Go Syn!!! *high fives Syn*)

Ristan, could you describe your perfect date (if the location is in Brazil the better 😉 )?

Ristan: Library, red head, ass up, legs spread, face down. Any questions?

(*blushes* Hm…better ask those privately *checks appointments in beauty salon for new coloring*)

And continuing our tradition, here is an Q&A for you three:

Red or Black?

Ryder: Black

Synthia: Red

Ristan: Black

Lights on or Lights off?

All three: On

Wine or Beer?

All three: Beer

Vampires or Wolves?

Ryder: Vamps

Synthia: Vamps

Ristan: Wolves, Ryder hates wolves.  (*laughs at Ristan*)

Casual or Chic?

All three: Casual

Food or Sex?

Ryder: Grin.

Syn: Snort.

Ristan: Laughs.

Cuddling or Round 2?

All three: Round Two.

(*fans herself* It’s hot in here!)

Hot or Cold?

Ryder: Hot.

Synthia: Cold.

Ristan: Sizzling.

(*gets up to open a window* It’s really hot in here!)

Bed or Sofa?

All three: Bed.

Top or Bottom?

All three: Both.

Ristan: You forgot sideways, backwards, sixty nine, and a lot more. Why don’t you come over here, and let me show you some…

(*needs a timeout for a cold shower*)

Day or Night?

Ryder: Time is irrelevant when feeding a pregnant Fae.

Synthia: As if.

Ristan: And morning, yes please.

Underwear or Commando?

Ryder: Peeks at Syn smiling. A gentlemen never tells, he shows you.

Syn: Underwear. I have enough things sniffing my ass. ~Looks at Ryder~

Ristan: Come to my office, and I’ll show you.

(That’s a secret I won’t be telling you guys ;P )

Fast or Slow? (Take your minds of the dirty stuff, it could be anything! LMAO)

Synthia: Fast and slow, which these two are going to both say.

Ryder: Grins.

Ristan: She’s on to something.

After that I really needed to compose myself! It was so much fun!!! Thank you guys again (and Amelia) for your time!!!

Release Day Blitz: Lifers by Jane Harvey-Berrick

Happy Release Day to Jane Harvey Berrick!!

My review of it is in the previous post if you want to check it!

lifers blitz

After eight years in prison, twenty-four year old Jordan Kane is the man everyone loves to hate.

Forced to return to his hometown while on parole, Jordan soon learns that this small town hasn’t changed since he was carted off to juvie all those years ago. He is the local pariah, shunned by everyone, including his own parents. But their hatred of him doesn’t even come close to the loathing he feels every time he looks in the mirror.

Working odd jobs for the preacher lady, Jordan bides his time before he can leave this backwards town. But can distance erase the memories that haunt him? Trapped in the prison of his own mind Jordan wonders if the pain of living will ever subside?

Torrey Delaney is new in town and certainly doesn’t behave in a way the locals believe a preacher’s daughter should. Her reputation for casual hook-ups and meaningless sex is the talk of the town. Add that to her budding friendship with the hardened ex-con handyman, and the good Reverend is less than thrilled with her estranged daughter’s path.

As friendship forms, is it possible for two damaged people who are afraid to love take their relationship to the next level? Can Torrey live with Jordan’s demons, and can Jordan break through Torrey’s walls? With the disapproval of a small town weighing heavily on them, will they find their place in the world? Can they struggle against the odds, or will their world be viciously shattered?

Is love a life sentence?

Due to scenes of a sexual nature, not recommended for under 18.

And yes, that Carol who threw the last question happens to be me 🙂 I love Jane, she is so sweet and humble and super cool!! Major fangirl moment to see my question here 🙂

Sarah Tree: What made you start writing in the first place?

I’ve always written. But I started writing fanfiction and then someone told me I should write my own books. That’s where I started.

Sheena Lumsden: How did you feel when your first book went live on Amazon?

Nervous. Excited. Like standing on a cliff and wondering if you were going to fly or fall.

What inspires you to write and when did you start to write?

Everything inspires me: places, people, conversations, things I see, just my own imagination.
Do you put parts of your own personality into your characters?

Yes. But I’m not going to tell you which! LOL
How long does it take you to write a book and send it to publish?

The longest I’ve taken to write a book is two years—Dazzled, but I wasn’t writing all the time. Usually it’s about 4-6 weeks for a first draft. But that’s total absorption, 7 days a week, to the point where my husband complains he’s forgotten what I look like. Then, I guess 2-3 months for second draft, editing, cover (by the very wonderful Hang Le), and formatting.
Do you have a favorite book?

Persuasion, by Jane Austen. No competition.
What author inspires you?

See above. Her dialogue was razor sharp. I also loved the Fifty Shades stories, even though it seems popular to slate them now. Forget all the bdsm stuff – it’s about being redeemed by love. What’s not to like?
Apart from writing what other activities do you enjoy doing?

Walking my dog, swimming, bodyboarding (but only in good weather these days), ogling surfers changing in the car park.

Out of all your characters in your books, who would you like to go out with on a date (male only)?

OMG! Seb could take me surfing, Daniel could sing to me, Miles could take me to a movie premiere… and Hallen could take me right here and now : )  Oooh, mustn’t forget Jordan—I’d like to give him a big hug, but I expect Torrey would wrestle me off him!

Sarah Tree: Who’s your favorite three authors?

In contemporary romance, A Meredith Walters, Devon Hartford, JD Dixon… Hmmm, after that, well, just loads!

How do you think up such great characters to write about?

Thank you! I’m not sure I can answer that. The plot usually comes rushing in with fully formed characters. They develop as I write but they just seem to land in my brain.

The male and female ones? Lol The male ones are always HOT too!!  hehehe

It’s so much fun writing about hot guys. Wish fulfillment, I expect. But I like adding little tidbits of humor, too. I like writing about relationships that challenge the norm. Someone told me that all my books are about second chances. I hadn’t realized that, but I think it’s true.

HShowdog Fanfiction: Who inspired Sebastian? Can I have his number?

I live by the ocean and there are a lot of hot surfers. (See fave hobby above) I didn’t realize how taboo the story would be to some people. But yes, there is a certain green-eyed beautiful guy who looks quite a lot like Seb. I’ll PM you with his number ; )
Do you give sex scenes a trial run to test logistics before you write them?

Of course!
Do your family/friends know you write and have they read your books?

My husband hasn’t read any of my books. My mother has. Some of my friends say they can’t because they KNOW me. I remind them… it’s f-i-c-t-i-o-n, but then again, there is a lil bit of me in every story…

Is there anyone who you don’t tell (and why)?

Most people in the village where I live think I’m just that person who walks her dog every day. They have no clue what I do. Only my close friends know what I do. It’s more interesting to be the person who lurks. I’m good at lurking.
Do you write full time or do you have another job?

I have the best job in the world – I write full time, and have done for a year now.
What did you use to do?

I worked for a sexual health charity, an art gallery, and I trained as a high school teacher. I used to run a drama group for kids, but that was for fun.
Tell me about your screenwriting- have you written anything we might have seen?,

Nothing for screen yet (although I’ve got several scripts for movies and TV knocking around), but I have a play that will be touring the UK later on this summer. It’s a serious story about an ex-soldier suffering from PTSD. I’ll have more details soon.
Who or what inspires you?

Readers. Their feedback is more important than they realize. Also, I was in London for the veterans Remembrance Day parade last November. I met a lot of soldiers and ex-soldiers. Their stories were incredibly inspiring.
What is your biggest ambition as a writer?,

To always feel like I’ve written to my best ability and that each book brings something different. Oh yeah, and to have one turned into a cooool movie!
What are you working on right now?

At Your Beck & Call. It’s about a male escort – I’m at second draft stage.
Who is your favorite character you’ve created?

Great question! Impossible to answer. It’s usually the one I’m working on, but then I go back and re-read my books and fall in love with those characters again. It sounds ridiculous, but they’re family. I can’t choose one. Can’t. I’m very fond of ‘Hulk’ in Lifers even though he only has a minor role.
What scenes are you most excited about seeing come to life in the movie of Fifty Shades of Grey?

Ooh, another great question. Well, the first time Ana sees Christian. I want that gut-churning feeling. And I’ll be very curious to see how they deal with the first sex scene. I want to see Christian prowl. I want to see the predator in him, as well as the lover. Oh yeah!

Lisa J. Ashmore: I’m aware that you are a British novelist but most of your books are in an American voice. Was that difficult and how did you overcome it?

Surprisingly it wasn’t difficult, although I still include Britishisms without realizing it. My fabulous beta reader ruthlessly cuts them out!

When I’m reading your novels I find that you are so descriptive in your locale that I feel like I’m really there. Have you actually traveled to all these places?

I spent two months living in Minnesota when I was 21, but no – most of the places I haven’t visited. That’s where the research comes in. Someone asked me if I’d been a foreign correspondent in Afghanistan because of the way I’d written that section in The Education of Caroline. I was VERY proud of that.

I see on the social networks how readers see Sebastian and Daniel. I would love to know how you picture them. Have you worked from a muse, and if so, give me pictures please!

HA HA HA! I’ve seen a lot of pix that readers have put together and some come VERY close. But no, I don’t have a muse. It’s all in my head. Is that scary?

Shirley Wilkinson: Are you prophetic? On re-reading the prologue of Exposure, and the story that follows it, that question has popped into my mind. Your story seems so, up to date with all the current news we are reading.

Exposure is a thriller. I wrote it when the gold markets were going crazy and the American debt was up to $13 trillion. But the whole of the first chapter was a REAL conversation that I overheard on a train. Told you I lurked! I have no supernatural powers that I know of—except for lurking (see above).

Do you find your, non English MMCs easier characters to write for?

If I throw in a Britishism, my beta will find it. It hasn’t made much difference, I don’t think. Miles and Clare are English, Hallen (At Your Beck & Call) is Canadian, Jordan is from Texas, Torrey is from Boston and Seb is from San Diego. It’s the character that’s important, but I need to find their ‘voice’, too.

If you could make one of your books available as a talking book, which one would choose? And who would you like as the reader. ? That’s two questions, I know:-).

Oooh! Good questions! Either Dazzled or Lifers because they’ve both got two narrators and I think that would be really good to listen to. For Dazzled it would have to be Rob Pattinson (well, why not?!) and Martine McCutcheon; for Lifers Tatum Channing or Matthew McConaughey and Scarlet Johansson.

Dina Farndon Eidinger: Do you HEAR the characters in your head when writing?

Yes. When I’m out walking, a piece of dialogue pops into my mind. I always carry a notebook because there’s nothing worse than forgetting a great line!

Do you let them guide the story, or do you write how you WANT it to happen?

Mostly I have the plot worked out, but sometimes the characters kick my ass and tell me to do it THEIR way.
Why did you decide to do 50 shades fan fic?

I’d never written adult fiction and FSOG inspired me. Then one of the fanfic readers told me I should write some original stories—so I did. Fanfic is great training for a writer. People can be very snooty about it, but there are some brilliant writers on there.
Do you meet people and discover a CHARACTER in them?

Not usually a whole person, but I do take certain characteristics from them. Several friends have ended up in my books. And my outlaws—I mean in-laws! They just don’t know it : )
If one of your books could be a movie, which one would you pick and why?

Dangerous to Know & Love because it covers a subject that doesn’t get mentioned much.
When writing some of the more difficult scenes, do you get as emotional as we do when we read it? For example, Seb’s scene when he got hurt?

Definitely. I typed through tears on several occasions in that section, and again recently for a scene toward the end of At Your Beck & Call. The characters become very real to me.
Do you get nervous or anxious right before one of your books release?

Hell, yeah! My friends get tired of talking me down from the ledge.

Does it bother you if you get a negative review?

I’d love to say no, but that’s a big fat lie. Yet another ledge my friends have to talk me down from. You put your heart and soul into these stories and then c-r-a-s-h. It’s hard. It must be worse if you’re an actor, because it’s not just your work, but your face and voice, too.

What has surprised you and upset you the most about your success so far?

I like that you think I’m successful! I guess the biggest surprise is that really is an international experience. I get messages from all over the world, which is amazing.

I get upset when people do mean stuff, like give me a one-star review, even before my book has been published and I know for a fact that they haven’t read it. Why would anyone do that? I don’t understand.

Cori Pitts: What made you decide to go with independent publishing?

E-books have made it possible. Traditional publishing can’t compete with the fast turn-around of e-books. Plus, I love LOVE being able to be involved with the cover design, web design etc. With a publisher, I’d be a lot less involved. Shame, isn’t it?
How long did you write before you were first published?

Well, I wrote a lot of marketing copy in previous jobs, and literacy guides for teachers, too. But then I went straight from fanfic to e-books. If I was waiting for a traditional publisher, I’d still be waiting.
What advice would you offer to aspiring writers?

Write every day. And fanfic is a great place to do your practice—plus you get really fast feedback on scenes/plots/dialogue that works.

Dorota Wróbel: Those familiar with your FSoG FF know that you are very capable (better even than ELJ I’d say) of writing a great story of the billionaire-in-the-making (including the ‘behind the scenes’ of making his fortune – something totally overlooked and almost never mentioned in the romance / erotica books) – yet your original characters are usually sort of ‘your neighbourly every day’ persons (at least on the surface). Have you ever thought of writing your own story about a ‘flamboyant’ character such as a billionaire, an artist or maybe an eccentric aristocrat?

Never say never, but so far that’s not the storyline that’s inspired me. Besides, ELJ, Raine Miller and Sylvia Day have done that so well, I’m not sure I’d have anything to add. But maybe…one day!

Oh, and the book I’m working on now At Your Beck & Call, the main character, Hallen, is an inspiring artist as well as an escort.

Carol Sales: I am curious about your writing process too…How does a story come to your mind and if you immediately put it down on paper or just the idea, or if you let it sink in your head more? And how the stories you do choose to put to life are chosen over other stories you might have thought about?

I have about a dozen book ideas noted down. Usually a title and a plot outline with the main characters. I get frustrated that I don’t have enough time or hours in the day to write them all. I tend to pick the one that shouts the loudest, but I have been known to pause a book half way through because something else grabbed me the throat until I wrote it down.

MINOLTA DIGITAL CAMERAI started writing contemporary romance two years ago. Before that, I didn’t think I could write a sex scene. Turns out I can!
My lucky number is 13 because I was born on the 13th and live near a haunted castle by the ocean.
