sinopsis

Can the Devil be Forgiven?

Everything is fun and games till someone gets hurt, and what Jameson Kane did to Tatum O’Shea goes so far beyond hurt, he is well into the realm of unforgivable. Tate says she wants him gone for good, and he quickly learns that the old saying, “you don’t know what you’ve got till it’s gone”, is most definitely true.

But Jameson has never been very good at following instructions, and when Satan decides to seek redemption, he’ll go to great lengths to get it. He proposes one last game – one to end them all, if she agrees to play. He is very confident that he can win, but Tate warns him that’s not possible; she will not lose again. Little does she know, Jameson is prepared to do whatever it takes. Prepared to lay the entire world at her feet. Prepared to bear his soul.

What he didn’t count on, though, was handing the damn thing over.

Now he can only pray that his evil ways haven’t rubbed off on Tate too much. Sometimes, it’s very difficult to tell who the Devil really is …

WARNING: contains a semi-reformed devil, a woman scorned, and more Sanders than anyone has a right to witness. Also graphic sexual situations and strong language.

Rating:  5-devil-stars

My Review:

Degradation is for me, THE debut of the year! I could barely believe that it was Stylo Fantôme’s first book when I read it!

And Separation doesn’t disappoint. It is very different than the first book though. Separation starts right where Degradation left us. I will not justify our favorite Satan’s actions, mostly because he broke my heart along with Tate’s, but in this second book, I have to admit, Tate frustrated the hell out of me.

But then it is all justifiable, after all, what she went through wasn’t easy. But then if Jameson is Satan, Tate is Lilith, right?! Well, you’re in for a surprise then. In Separation, we have an inversion of roles. Tate is much more evil than Jameson, but don’t worry he never stopped being our Satan.

I love how mean he can be, and through his evilness, that’s how he shows what he feels for Tate! And Tate! Woman, you made me pull my hair out and want to throw my iPad in the wall! But I wouldn’t change a thing!

How can Stylo create a sequel, so different than the first book and with so many characters development and it all fits and remains consistent??! I’m happy she promise us not to take long to publish her next book, because I can’t freaking wait for book 3 now!! I have a feeling a LOT more is coming and I can’t wait to see it!!!

And then we have Sanders! How can you not fall in love with Sandy?? Although after the little sneak peak into book 3, Stylo gives us in the end of Degradation I am VERY concerned about Sanders! I mean what a BOMB to throw in our face, just because we can’t have the next book like yesterday! LOL Wait to go, Ms. Fantôme, I just hope you were making a joke…LMAO

There are tons of surprises in Degradation, one specifically I could NOT see coming, and I have to say I agree with Tate about it. That was low…even for them!!! I like to keep the mystery, this way you’ll have to read it and know what I’m talking about ahaha I learned from the best (*winks at Jameson*).

If in Degradation we get to know our characters and love Jameson’s filthy mouth and Tate’s sassiness, in Separation we see them in a different light. We get to meet them all over again and I’m not a bit disappointed with this other side of them I’ve seen. Frustrated sometimes, but that, I believe, was Stylo’s intention. After all they are human like us, they have flaws and I absolutely loved to see them acting like “real”, non-fiction people would. That is what makes the story so relateable to me!

I truly love seeing this story unfolding and developing. It stars in a way 7 years from the present, then we get to see our characters in the present and how they changed, Tate specially…They found each other again and they, even without noticing, helped each other, they changed. But can they, now, face even more changes?

Jameson made me laugh as usual and his and Tate’s banter is just so funny! I love seeing them both together, we can actually feel the sparkles that comes when they get close to each other. And Sandy…he is a dear! What there is not to love about him!!

Even though they’ve grown so much, I felt like for every step they took, they had to take two, or three, backwards. And I just can’t believe they won’t make it! They are born for each other. Even though Jameson Kane is no Prince Charming. But then, Tate is no common farytale princess. She is the most badass of all princesses…and I love her for that! She is not a damsel in distress, although she needs saving once and a while. I felt sad that she was losing some of that “new Tate” essence she got after her first night with Jameson, seven or more years ago, but then I saw some of her getting back and she I gotta say she was missed!

We get to see more of Nick in this book too…even though he is all wrong for Tate, I can’t help not liking him. He is very likeable! But he is no match for Satan!

I hated the fact that Tate, in Degradation, accepted (and was even turned on by it) Jameson’s cases with other women, but after Separation I have a feeling it is all in the past. I feel like Jameson won’t like anyone but Tate and even though she was already badass, she changed even more now. And she won’t take any shit from anyone, not even her Satan!!

I read Separation very early, a week or less after I read Degradation. I was lucky to get an ARC from Stylo and I was already hungover of Degradation, so of course I finished Separation in one night and got even  more obsessed! I’m really impressed by Stylo’s style of writing and how she can build a story and have it have so many layers, and it doesn’t leave any lose ends. I just love when authors do that! I can feel the story building and it is as I can actually feel it in my bones, like it is part of me…Crazy? Probably! But dude, Stylo’s writing is to go crazy over (and for)! It’s insanely good! Like, really, really good!

Stylo managed to flip the tables and make us see the two sides of the coin when it comes to her characters…and not only Jameson and Tate. Although their 180 change is the most noticeable. Tate learned very well from the evil master himself, and I feel like she just started showing what she learned in Separation. As I said, I’m so glad book 3 won’t take ages to come out, because I can’t barely wait to see what Ms. Tate has been hiding and the, deliciously malicious, ways  Jameson will found out.

Ohhh brownie points for Stylo for showing us our “nerdy”version of Jameson, with his glasses on…Of course I’m now picturing Gandy in his D&G Professor’s glasses…Of course all my book boyfriends, or most of them, are Gandy in my mind, but Jameson is actually described as a young David Gandy. How great is that??!

Crazy woman living in an undisclosed location in Alaska (where the need for a creative mind is a necessity!), I have been writing since …, forever? Yeah, that sounds about right. I have been told that I remind people of Lucille Ball – I also see shades of Jennifer Saunders, and Denis Leary. So basically, I laugh a lot, I’m clumsy a lot, and I say the F-word A LOT.

I like dogs more than I like most people, and I don’t trust anyone who doesn’t drink. No, I do not live in an igloo, and no, the sun does not set for six months out of the year, there’s your Alaska lesson for the day. I have mermaid hair – both a curse and a blessing – and most of the time I talk so fast, even I can’t understand me.

Yeah. I think that about sums me up.
