Blog Tour Stop: Fighting to Forgive (Fighting #2) by J.B. Salsbury

OMG I am so excited to talk about Blake!!! I’ve been smitten with him since the first book (Fighting for Flight), but now I am in love!!

Rating: 5 hell-yeah stars

Book Synopsis:

What do you do when everything you avoid, turns out to be exactly what you need?

Easy and predictable, just the way he likes it, Blake Daniels flies through life the way he burns through women: on his terms, no regrets.

With his fighting career in full swing, he’s on the threshold of title contention. But when his training is compromised by injury, the stakes grow impossibly higher. The rage that fuels his punches also chips away at his focus, and he risks losing everything he cares about.

He won’t let that happen. Not again.

Layla’s through with men. After a marriage that never should’ve happened, she hopes to reclaim the pieces of the woman she lost years ago.

Emotional abuse has left her insecure and terrified. A master at faking what she’s not feeling, she masks her self-doubt in false confidence.

She’ll never let another man hurt her. Not again.

Chased by shadows of the past, Blake and Layla know what they don’t want, but their hearts have a different plan. As a web of lies and betrayal threatens to destroy them, they’re forced to make a choice.

Is love enough to heal even the deepest wounds?

My Review:

Oh, where to start? If you looking for a book that has hot scenes, great characters, pure talented writing and fighters, you’re in for treat!

J.B. Salsbury is truly talented! When I first read Fighting for Flight I wasn’t expecting it to be that good and I felt in love with all the characters and how J.B. built the story. Not to mention Jonah and Blake…Oh wow! I was in love. In the first book I was hooked on Jonah, who could blame me? But I always had a soft spot for Blake, in my head I even wanted his flirtatious self to have something with Raven just to see more of him (don’t kill me, Jonah!!) LOL

In Fighting to Forgive we are introduced to Blake’s problems and we see a bit of his past. His father was a controlling military man and what a jerk! I am so grateful he didn’t manage to break Blake’s spirit!

In the meantime, we’re also introduced to Layla and her daughter Axelle. Layla is a huge rock fan, sweet and has been through a lot in her life. She is older than Blake (I actually didn’t see that, I thought they were like the same age), but it isn’t noticeable. Layla is very different from Raven. While Raven is kickass and strong, Layla is more fragile. But don’t mix up fragile with weak. She has such a strengh for having to deal with what she had! Also, let’s not forget that Raven too had a pretty messed up past and she overcame it.

And who better to help Layla overcome her fears than the sexy Blake “Snake” Daniels? Blake is far from perfect himself, but I had a great time seeing him change. The first change we see is that, since book 1, he was saying he wouldn’t want a serious commitment and if it ever happened he didn’t want a girl with baggage. Well, sorry to disappoint Blake, but Layla doesn’t have baggage, she has a whole trunk of it!

In one of the first scenes that Blake appears he refuses a girl because she had a teen sister to deal with. Well, Layla not only deals with a teen, she is also has to raise one. She is a single mother and is trying to do her best for Axelle after all they’ve been through, specially Layla, with her ex.

I loved seeing a different, softer side of Blake and seeing Layla get stronger and stronger because of him. They are perfect for each other and what makes it all perfect? I’ll tell you, the talented J.B. Salsbury!

This story, just like the first one, has everything to be great, but without J.B.’s gift for writing it wouldn’t be nearly as good! She has a way with her words and the story feels real and natural. All the characters are where they need to be and he dialogs are great! And even though her books have hot scenes, they are not overwritten with them! I feel so disappointed when we have a potencially good story and we can’t see it because of the amount of sex in it! I get that we all love our smut, but too much can spoil the story.

Not the case here, J.B. know exactly what to put in her stories and where and when to put it! The dialogs can be funny or dramatic or hot, but the stories don’t lose their character because of anything.

I loved seeing one more book written by her capable hands and I can’t wait to see where next her characters will lead us!
